How do you guys find out about new Garfield merchandise currently in stores? Do you just happen to find it when youre out? Or is there a website or forum you go to and see everything thats currently out there?
The boat is powered by trolling motors and batteries. The lights are powered by a 2000w Honda generator. This is an older boat design. Search for pontoon boat train to see my best work.
It is not the Erie Canal it is the Barge Canal. The Erie canal was abandoned in 1918 after the completion of the larger, wider Barge Canal. NY State choses to call the Barge Canal the Erie Canal mostly for historical tourist trap monetary reasons so they can justify spending millions of taxpayer dollars keeping "Clintons Ditch" open for the 20 boats that pass through a year. Traveling through the Barge Canal is a long, slow, boring trip you will regret. I have lived next to the canal all my life and use to have a boat but I don't have one anymore for obvious reasons....
I just wanted to thank you both for this wonderful channel! I just found you because I too am a big garfield collector. Excited to see the next one! You guys deserve more Subs and likes! 💕🔥👍
I think we confuse people with all of the mixed content since any video we are involved in goes on this channel. It's like Russian Roulet with videos. .... Will the video be Garfield or something else?
You mention in your notes about skipping Binghamton. This is a great idea since it is nowhere near the Erie Canal. Perhaps you meant Brockport? I agree with the other commenter who suggested sharing the navigation tools you came up with. Thanks for your video!
Probably had Binghamton on the mind because our friends went there, and we stopped on the way up. Made a great mid-way point for the drive up. New York is a big state. I will have to see if I can find my notes. It was all researched during covid.
I have an over sized 'I AM THE PARTY" Garfield. He's wearing a black 'tshirt with the eording on it. Its rare and I'm unable to find any info about it. Can anyone point me in a good direction??.
Great informational video! We are on The Harriett June 2023. Our goal is to cruise straight to Tonawanda NY, tie up for the day eBike into Canada (over the Rainbow Bridge) and then take our time getting back. That way we are not at risk of being late on the way back. How many days would you estimate that "non-stop" cruise to Tonawanda take if we did 8-10 hours per day???
In enough time you might convert her to the dark side. Fighting over a new Garfield bathrobe that I wore with Garfield Lounge Pants and Garfield slippers for the "Garfield Pajama Party" on the 25th birthday cruise... I suddenly realized I might be "One of them" also.
Like Captain Ahab of Moby Dick perhaps searching for our "White Whale" on the high-seas is more fun than just googling it and presto ... there is proof. I am glad I crowd-sourced it because only 2 people claim it existed. It seems like it was a limited production for Macy's or Sears.
We estimate there were either 300 or 600 Macy's Giant plush. there were just under 300 stores at that time and there was a rumor that employees could win one in a separate drawing. That would make the 600 count. As far as the waffle iron if it existed so far it can hide better than the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot combined because at least there are people claiming to have seen them other than my wife and another person. In other words... you are probably right.
@@dylankosch8953 She was in college at the time and only had 10 or so Garfield"s at the time she even collected "Goofy". Looking back now she kicks herself for not buying one.
Good video and advice. Wish we had this before we did out rentals. We have done two rentals over the last several years - with friends and without. Each time most enjoyable. I could do this every couple years and not get board at all. I picked up a book called Wedding Of The Waters by Peter Bernstein which is a GREAT source of the 200 year plus history of the canal, even some before the canal. Also, knowing what bridges are lift bridges is not always obvious so in the planning make sure you know which ones are lift and not.
Eventually I realized the trip planning was liquid so creating planning tools and charts made the biggest difference. On day one there was a fire under a bridge, and we were detained on the other side until it was put out. Cany plan for that.
My wife and one other person claim to have seen oine once but there is absolutely no evidence of it ever existing. Would love to see a photo or old ad to put this one to bed.

I found this boat at my local goodwill last night. 8 bucks. Brand new, never been inflated. I have never fished from a boat! Electric motor is next. Thank you for the video.
We actually made the video as a joke just to taunt our friends in NY that we were in Florida. Be safe. I'm not sure if 2 engines were necessary but the 24 pound engine was a dog so we added one.
I've been in Muncie since Jan, and apparently the visitor's bureau had purchased most of the stock of merchandise from the Paws HQ. Of course, it's 2022 so they had been picked clean over the summer once travel sort of resumed internationally. They still have some stuff, including t-shirts (some have production sample tags.. going back 30+ years). The statue at the Paws HQ is there too.
We are looking for a Garfield Waffle Iron or it might be a pancake maker. That is our new mission. Spread the word. The one she saw was shaped like Garfield. There is a new one that just has a Garfield graphic on the outside. She said the one she saw has the waffle or pancake shaped like Garfield.
Some of our newspaper finds appear here, as does Tortilla chip artwork which we redrew from the newspaper photos. If possible, I'd like to see some flat scanned versions of the artwork, or flatter-looking photos, which would show the art better and be more reproducible. (For this and other Garfield products.)
Im not sure how to flat scan an un-opened bag of tortillas. Does anyone have a cat-scan or Matterport Real estate laser camera to put the bag in / around?
This was quite interesting, I am actually from the UK 🇬🇧 and live on a widebeam that is what we call this type of boat in the UK, mine is 60 feet by 11 feet wide, and the area I live in there are wide rivers and very narrow rivers (They are exiting) as well as canals and locks apart from the wide rivers most of the small rivers and much more challenging and narrow, especially when my boat is actually much bigger. Most of the locks and canals in the videos you have posted look much larger than most of the ones in my area, if your interested I have posted on my page quite a few trips taken on either my widebeam or my Dutch Barge. PS its usually a lot more frenetic and hap hazard on our waterways 😂 😂. This is just a very short flavour of my area, a little trip with a friend: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rzHF52ySCFQ.html&feature=share
Thank you for not using the metric system. 60 feet, that is a healthy size boat. I enjoyed your movie. Short and sweet. I have seen some canal movies that they use more video just to un-tie the lines at the dock.
At the end of July I was stuck at Bushnell basin for two weeks. Waiting for the depth between 29 and 30 to get increased. My boat draws 7 ft. It was entertaining to watch those rentals. You could tell pretty easily who was experienced.
The bow thrusters do help a lot and also the fact that my wife and best friends were on board and I would never live down anything I do. The important part was in the end when returning the boat to a finger slip, an employee uses you as a remote-control puppet. If you have a light hand and can listen to instructions, it just slides right in.
