I believe great bass players are developed like great drummers ... by extensive practice playing songs. Rudiments and scales are of course necessary but the fine points of playing are gained by playing along side bass masters that show us in real-time what to do.
The goal of this site is to showcase how to play the baselines to my favorite songs. I am not shooting for perfection ... rather to cover a wide variety of songs. Pardon me if a note or two is missed or I'm not playing in or behind the pocket here and there... I want to cover a lot of ground. Usually, I record two to three songs each 2 hour session and all from memory... This is the standard of a bass player.
I do this out of the joy of bass playing. Any funds earned from these recording go back to the original artists. I salute them. They have been my teachers over the years. I hope you enjoy them.
