She would play a wonderfully psychotic villain in a live action Disney film. Otherwise, unless the act is that of a fantastically insane evil villain, I don't get it. This feels like watching a German Cory Feldman with amazing vocal talent.
I would like to apologize to Nina Hagen for never having heard her wonderful performing before. I feel like American music is so one-sided; we don’t hear things from Eurovision or even top of the pops, YT makes it easier to hear, but you have to look for it; this is the first time the algorithm has presented me with her work. Btw, I’m gen X, so it’s just sad that I missed out on her music growing up. 🇺🇸 has good music, but without a complete WORLD view of music, we are uneducated. 😕
But you *have* found her and that's all that matters. Now you have Nina's expansive 50-year career to explore! Go forth and enjoy the Mother of Punk, fellow X'er. 🤘😄
What I love about Nina Hagen is that she does exactly what she wants to do and don't give a crap what other people might think. A true difference in between artists and Artists is that Artists make it look appealing to the audience no matter how odd and strange their art was. Professionally.
In the 90's in SF, I got to see her perform live and it's one of my favorite memories. In the VIP room, I was shirtless wearing Gaultier, while signing my back with a sharpie, she was interrupted and told her team that she she wasn't finished. GOOD TIMES!
