This is a common misconception. A lot of people think that "the Old Course used to play in the reverse direction." It did occasionally in the late 1800s, but before the 1870s, the course actually played in BOTH directions-the course was much narrower, so players used exactly the same corridors going out and coming back. So the Road Green was initially established to play in both directions. If you're looking for a reason that the Road Green plays extremely small on the way in, it's probably more that in the 1800s players would usually be hitting their third shots, not their second shots, into it. You could say it's a par-5 green, basically.
Appreciate the comments on Lydia Ko. She deserved that win yesterday. Its unfortunate we may never get to see her again as "the rest of life" seems to be calling to her. Whatever she does we wish her well.

Don't really think Korda is a choker but it's beginning to look that way. She does apparently like the number '7'. After hearing for hours about how Vu is the "best putter in the world" - she leaves a tying putt on 18 several feet short! Looked like she hit it with the head cover on. Ko played like a champion and deserved it.
Left over range balls are my definition of "free range". I AM interested in fighting this asshole that was adamant about not hitting them. What an idiot.
My home course (public) could use a lesson on rebuilding a pond without breaking the bank. There is a par 5 on the far south edge of the course where the fairway gets iced over in the winter because of shade. When the course was built, the neighbor on the south (left side of the hole) was a corn field, but when it was replaced by houses the course had to plant trees to screen the houses from hooked and pulled shots. Now much of the fairway is in bad condition all summer because of inadequate sun and snow that never melts in the winter. They need to move the fairway away from the course boundary, but there is an irrigation pond flanking the right side of the hole that would need to be narrowed and maybe lengthened to accommodate the change.

It's pretty hard to watch 2 smart guys be that stupid about a product, viewership and streaming. When you have a free commercial free app, with any shot any time and the ability to watch any group you want to watch, why would you ever watch CW? Not too mention RU-vid viewership. Be better guys. The O'Meara Parkland Golf Course at Carton Golf Kildare is a Par 73 parkland golf course that measures 7,165 yards from the blue championship tees. Yes, of course it was designed by 1998 Masters Champion, Mark O'Meara.
I found CommonGround a few months ago when I was visiting Denver looking for a fun course to play. I definitely found it here. I love the walk ability and the caddie program and the course is fun and difficult enough to make you think to shoot a good round. I have to get used to the elevation, but oh well. I enjoy the strategic areas of the course, especially the green complexes. Some holes have a definite 'style' like #14. Also, the people I've met when playing this course have just been the best. Off hand, I mentioned that I was heading to the airport after a round and one of my playing partners said he lives near the airport and gave me a lift! Definitely playing with him again when I go back. Hopefully, soon.

Played here last week. Course is a 12/10. Free range balls, immaculate greens, great pro shop, great price. Debate over best in the country….who cares…go play it if you can!
The ENTIRE playoff concept for golf is an absolute joke. If the Players Championship is so F'ING great and important, why is it not the final event of the season?

@@scodaddyyy I can assure you that information is inaccurate. Limited outside play will be part of the operating model and the guest fees will be extremely modest when it opens to the outside this fall. That guest fee will also include f&b for the day! 👌
