River Kings began as a way to preserve the memories of a group of good friends' outdoor ventures. While that is still a priority, It has grown into an venue for chronicling outdoor activity to educate and inspire others to better enjoy everything outdoors...Enjoy!

congrats! my son also just got his license last week. He loves to paddle but from time to time he mentions not having others his age to paddle with. Maybe we can paddle together sometime and enjoy having our new shuttle drivers.
Pete, I love that you're always keeping an eye for your crew. Y'all try to keep the risks to a minimum, but you're not afraid to do what's necessary to help someone when things go sideways for them. The world needs a lot more people like yourself.
I really enjoyed watching your video. Loved the camera perspective from your view rather than camera pointing at your face. So many utubers point the camera at themselves & us as viewers miss out on so much. We want to see what your seeing, So many beautiful views & exciting rapids! And you gave us that & more with the cool drone shots. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us 👍 ❤
Love the part when you guys are paddling in the rain & thunder : Pretty much my favorite kind of weather for paddling! Everything becomes totally different somehow... the nature... the animals... the smells... :) P.S. : I really need your help with something and have sent you an e-mail to the address you mentioned here a couple of times for PayPal usage : Did you get it ? My nickname is in the subject!
Man, what a two days!! I really hate I missed finishing out with you guys. Seeing FB9 (and the last day flow) really only minimally confirms my decision to bail. The stronger feeling is sadness from missing out, missing those views and especially missing you guys!! Y'all crushed it!! Great video as always, Pete! Love you guys and congrats to the new FB9 members!!! 👍💪🛶
Great ideas as always, thanks. Helmets are also sensible if there are low branches or low bridges. Easy to get a nasty cut or scratch on your head or loose a fabric hat. Saws come in handy for branch clearance but also pose hazards of cuts or kick back of tensioned branches or loss/entrapment of the saw. How to safely cut your way past fallen trees from a kayak/canoe/sot/paddle board might be a good subject for a video?
I just went on a river clean-up on the Willamette with the Willamette Riverkeepers last Tuesday; it was my first, but they do a different section of the river every month. We hauled out two rafts and one soft-shell kayak worth of garbage: a bicycle, two tents, three sleeping bags, a huge mattress, etc. They don't give away boats though!?! They call it Trashy Tuesday. I joined your channel so I could take a look at the members only content and what-have-you. Okay, I joined it because your content is worth supporting, for certain. And $3/month is a steal! I did, however, find a really good local instructor, Lee Baker. He works for the school district here but is ACA certified in just about everything whitewater - and a very graceful paddler! I've only taken one two-hour session with him, in which he showed me how to "slow it down." He paddled with a broken arm that day, having lost a bout with a large boulder a couple of days prior. But I have Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue with him up on the Middle Fork near Winfur, Oregon, on July 20 - 21, and, if everything works out, I'll be paddling 40 + miles on the Rogue with him August 1 - 4, kind of like how you take students down rivers; I don't think he videos our agonies though! I'm looking forward to the rest of the chronicle on the French Broad, although it's too bad about Dan! He took that whuppin from a pillow rock! I'm so good at finding pillow rocks in the Rose Garden rapid that the locals call me the Pinball Wizard, but I'll never quit! Of course, pillow rocks don't have what it takes to flip my Funrunner!
This looked like a great trip. You guys have inspired me to pick up a boat and start exploring these awesome NC waters. Got a canoe a few weeks ago and am going to try whitewater kayaking hopefully this week! Keep up the great content
Pete, your kayak camping videos are some of my favorite. I found your channel years ago when making some ridgelines for my tarp and since then you've inspiring me to get out and adventure a little harder on my camping trips. Been a blast. Thanks for making killer content and teaching others what you know. Peace.
Congrats P-5!! Dad is right, with all the morons out there you will be better than most....ooh wait, that came out wrong... 😂 Hey Pete! From Paddling Partner to Shuttle Buddy in 2 short hours! Freaking Awesome! On all fronts!
I know you recommend the RPC3 performance tour and adventure tour paddles for use with the Yukon. Do you have any suggestions for a good alternate since the RPC3 has limited availability? Thanks!
Nigel has a very cool kayak shop. Lots of eye candy. The funeral home next door, is cool as well. Very unique hearse out front. Talk about going out in style.
