I am from the film cameras generation. I started with a Nikon FM2, learned how to focus manually and use flash and a meter. Time and equipment have made me evolve with the modernisation, making me use digital cameras and learning photoshop. Life became much more confortable and easier.
But was it? I guess I just want to take pictures... and today going back to using film would be more costly and frustrating. Doesn't mean I won't go back to black and white which is my passion, as I used to develop my own films and process them in a lab in college.
Makes me sound old, but it's the evolution that went too fast. Now, we are adding pixels more and more, to the point that cameras reach 60 to 100 mp. I am happy with 24, which is already more than average 35mm film cameras level.
@@allaboutphoto As a Pro I steered away from Leica - using medium format film until mid 2000;'s - and then banging straight into Hi End MF digi with Hasselblad H6D100c and the like - never owned a Leica until recently- now I have four..... we have just been given a commercial job from a card company over an extended period of time photographing Churches in the Cotswolds (we live here) for a collection of greeting and Christmas cards - I chose the Q3 becuase it is light, quick, portable 5 step bracketing, 60mpx so not far away from our Hass X stuff and waterproof - then I thought whats this SL2 all about with M lenses? So I got one of those - and its amazing - then we got a little Instant Sofort so we could reference the Churches quickly - then I acquired the Leica M8 and that 90mm Apo lens used by Audrey Tautou in the Chanel Advert - and afterwards her own personal camera for a while. Then Jane said she likes the SL2 but doesn't like the extended grip and the camera is a bit too big, and why can't she have a zoom with AF? - Oh wow so now we are looking at an SL3 with a 24-70 Zoom!! - Leica is a like drug I don't think there is a cure for..... We might well be selling our Hass X gear tho so there is that. But fave camera in a career spanning 35 years is delicate balance between the Mamiya RZ, the Has 907x, tipping slightly towards the Q3 as it is just so ridiculously capable - it goes everywhere with us - good luck. And yes of course we are going to look a the D8 - we have got this far........
@@nelsonclub7722 so impressed about your photographic path of life : I have to admit I come from 35mm film Camera but never large format . One of my dreams to come. I would love to see your work . Personally I was a press photographer, so mainly in agencies . But reading about your latest mission to photograph churches must be astonishing . Thanks for sharing your story . Very exciting and yes , even my wife says it is closest to film rendering . Hard to shoot non digital nowadays. Thanks for your comment
