Welcome to The Beard Solution. The channel which brought you the science behind beard growth and guidance on how to gain, maintain and reclaim your manly mane.
My channel was grown out of a passion for facial hair enhancement and identifying methods to increase beard coverage and density. I finished my Minoxidil journey on 29/07/2018 and haven't used it since, my beard remains intact. now I share sporadic updates

To put it simply , if you can't grow hair due to a medical condition , minox/rogaine gains will shed off completely. Minox/rogaine is not a cure for any medical condition!
Why in the world pay extra for 10%? It's literally just higher concentration - you can get the same exact dose as 1 mL 10% by using 2 mLs of 5%! (Edit: NVM, forgot you'll save money by buying in bulk, so 10% is actually cheaper overall.)
@jareds4619 well 1. You'd have to buy 2x as much 5% so the economics don't really make your version cheaper. (Unless 5% got a lot cheaper from when I used it) 2. thats not how it works. Your face reaches a saturation point with that much liquid. Either way, 5% is probably enough, and I think there was a study done that showed 10% was less effective than 5%.
@@thebeardsolution I looked it up and surprisingly true -- they don't have much of a cost difference, so it would be cheaper in countries where you can get it over the counter. So you are correct, it could save money! Your comment about "saturation with liquid" sounds incorrect. Do you have a source? I've taken classes on diffusion (chemical engineer) and the thing that is typically going to effect diffusion rates is not the carrying solvent, but the concentration of the solute. In this case, what is happening is that the solvent (ethanol and propylene glycol) is evaporating and depositing the minoxidil on the skin, which then diffuses through. The 10% solution applied once will have a higher initial diffusion rate due to the higher concentration, but after evaporation (which happens very quickly), the diffusion rates will be nearly identical because both scenarios deposit the same total amount of minoxidil on the skin. The skin also will only be "saturated" with minoxidil/ethanol/propylene glycol if the concentration is equal on both sides of the skin barrier, which should basically never occur (since they will be constantly removed from the body much faster than they are absorbed).
Hey i used minoxidil from 1 month i got some facial hair but my hair start fall . What i do ? I dont want stop my journey but my hair falling from head too much.
I am now (almost) 9 weeks in and the cycles/order in which things happen is so confusing. At the end of week 6 I noticed a massive amount of new vallus hairs and some of them even turned transitional... Then I didnt see any real progress for weeks until I noticed today (comparing to old pictures) that my overall amount of hairs increased (even on spots where I didnt want any like under my eyes and next to my eyebrows 😅) and some (very few) hairs that were already terminal became much darker than the rest (i am blonde). Now I am in a phase with a lot of vallus and medium amount of transitional hair (even got comments on it from people that didnt see me for 5+ weeks). So far I cant complain tbh.
Hi Adam, I don’t know if you check your comments anymore, anyway; After stopping minoxidil, did the scalp shed stop? I’ve heard horror stories of people saying they went bald after quitting minoxidil, makes me a bit nervous. I want to improve my beard but don’t lose my head hair in the process Thanks in advance
Hi *Short Answer:* _In my opinion_ , minoxidil doesn't cause baldness. _Here's why_: *Key Points:* [1] Stopping minoxidil may seem to increase hair loss because: [a] Stimulated hair growth ceases [b] Follicles return to pre-treatment state [2] This creates an illusion of increased baldness, especially with male pattern baldness (MPB), due to: [a] Unmasking of MPB progression [b] Sudden contrast in appearance More details can be found below: *Important Concepts:* _*Hair Growth Cycle*_: The cycle consists of anagen (active growth, 2-6 years), catagen (short transition), telogen (resting, 2-3 months), and exogen (shedding) phases. This cycle repeats throughout life. _*Male Pattern Baldness (MPB)*_: This is a genetic condition where sensitivity to DHT causes hair follicles to shrink over time. It results in progressively shorter anagen phases and thinner, shorter hairs. MPB is ongoing (even during minoxidil use) and not cured by minoxidil. _*Minoxidil*_: This medication works by prolonging the anagen phase, keeping hairs growing longer. It also increases blood flow to follicles, promoting thicker growth. Importantly, it doesn't block DHT, so it doesn't address the root cause of MPB, which may continue to progress, obscured by minoxidil usage *Shedding and Minoxidil:* Some users experience initial shedding (telogen effluvium) when starting minoxidil. This occurs as new anagen hairs push out existing telogen hairs, appearing as increased hair loss. It's temporary and not experienced by all users. When stopping minoxidil, hairs are no longer forced to remain in the anagen phase, potentially resulting in apparent increased shedding as hair cycles normalize. *"Minoxidil caused my hair loss" - Reality Check:* [1] Minoxidil masks MPB progression while in use. [2] Stopping reveals both the natural hair loss that would have occurred without minoxidil and the loss of minoxidil's growth-promoting effects. [3] This creates an illusion of sudden, increased hair loss. In reality, it's a return to baseline plus natural MPB progression that occurred during use. *Remember*: While DHT contributes to scalp hair loss in susceptible individuals, it paradoxically promotes beard growth. *_Disclaimer:_* I'm not a scientist or a medical professional and it's been years since I covered these topics but I hope the above supports my position. P.s. My hairline was never permanently affected by minox - everything always went back to normal during and after minox p.p.s - I really hope my formatting worked - first time I'm trying it and it was a ballache to add - appreciate there is a lot of text here
I should add that my opinion given in the short answer is the response I've seen from professionals etc. Of all the years I have received comments the small few that have made these claims are always reluctant to provide evidence, such as before and after photos and any request for studies usually results in diatribes about "Big Pharma" - in short - I don't believe them for a second
You guys are putting to much thought into it .Just use it everyday and dont worry about seeing results kinda like showering everyday make it a normal routine lol .Eventually you will see results but if your constantly waiting it will seem like forever so just relax and make applying it a daily routine without thought
@@thebeardsolution damn Adam calm down I was just being sarcastic by the fact that a full grown beard can make a person look a bit different that's all..jeez you salty AF mate lol
@AmineAlgerienProd oh sorry I didn't realise we knew each other. Didn't realise we were best buds. Didn't know I was meant to read your comment with 0 context, and without knowing you somehow acertain the intention was to joke and not just someone posting another brain dead comment. Call me salty if you want, but my patience for stupidity is non-existent.
I watched your full video man..But I'm from asia & I can't understand your english properly. My hair starts shedding nowadays but I didn't use it for hair..I only use it for beard....please reply
My current beard growth regimen. 1. Minoxidil 2x per day 2. Dermarolling once a day in the morning 3. Biotin supplement 4. Collagen supplement 5. Castor Oil I've been using this regimen for the past two weeks and I'll say this. In the two weeks I've been doing this regimen the facial hair on the right side of my face has seen a significant boost in hair in that area whereas hair never grew there prior and the hair on the left side of my face has also shown growth as well. So from my own tests Minoxidil DOES WORK.
My all brother beard my one brother is 21 year old is full beard and second brother 24 is beard full but I'm 19 my beard is not growth and my 21 Year brother beard growth in 18 but I'm 19 but my beard is not
You probably are not a responder to the drug. You could look into Tretinoin in addition to your routine, but I don't know too much about that. The video covers pretty much everything I know on the topic, so if it's not covered in there I'm not sure what to tell you.
I have a lot of vellus hair. In the wiki of r/minoxbeards it says one doesn't know when vellus hair will become terminal. But is it for certain that they will turn terminal eventually and is time the only uncertainty? Or is it possible that vellus hair don't turn terminal?
In general, I would agree with that sentiment re: not knowing when the hair will "become" terminal but that given enough time, this process should take place. This is largely anecdotal, but it seems to carry from what I've observed. But to provide further context... I'd be careful trusting claims that are so black and white that it's a certainty that vellus will "become" terminal. On that note, slight anal point from me on the word "become." Vellus hairs don't become terminal per se they are required to shed first. my understanding of the science hair growth is all hair sheds and regrows in cycles. For facial hair growth with enough time and exposure to androgens like testosterone and mainly Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) vellus hairs will shed to be replaced with a terminal hair. This is the case for even those who don't use minoxidil. It's important to note that this doesn't mean that if a vellus hair sheds, it will be guaranteed to be replaced with terminal hair. When I quit minox after just over 2 years using it, I wasn't 100% sure if the hairs were all terminal, but there comes a point we all have to stop. I don't seem to have lost any coverage since quitting. You'll get a bit of shedding whenever you quit minox, and that's normal. I don't seem to have lost any coverage or density, which lends me to believe that most of it was probably terminal. I've been off 5 years, and my beard has probably improved a little with age, too, but it's all still here. I've not really stayed particularly close to the topic, though in recent years, there might be more evidence in the literature, so please take the above as largely my opinion rather than 100000000% fact.
Hi mate.. i have been using minoxidil for 8 months but the vellus is not lengthening and terminal.. if i continue for 1 year or 2 years will i get a beard like other minox users?
