@@jeffscherb6520 I would like to find sticky back polypropylene sticker sheets to laser etch my own labels on therm. This is the one down side to the Auxbeam style switch pads; they have chamfered as opposed to a square or rectangle shape and there are not enough marine related labels
The design has been picked up by MORryde (www.morryde.com/products-cat/jeep-accessories/) and they were showing a preproduction sample at the SEMA Show last week. The sample they were showing had a suction mount and it was mounted on a JL hardtop side window: hosting.photobucket.com/images/cc163/jscherb/MORrydeDisplay4_pt5bvEqTMfVvqEcvEWtxnx.jpg. Since the table is designed to support multiple mount types, mounts for tailgates (Wrangler and Bronco) are planned as well.
I don't sell anything, I'm just a designer and this is a proof-of-concept prototype. I will offer the design to Overland Outfitters (www.overland-outfitters.com) and if they decide there's a market for it then they may put it in production.
Jeff I have a TJ and love the stuff you keep coming up with. Back to the CJ style grill for the TJ I would love to have one, why don’t you produce them even if it’s on a pre purchase basis. Let me know, Thanks
Thank you. I'm not in business to sell anything, I'm just a designer. I'd much rather spend my time implementing my next design than making more examples of things I've done before and selling them to people. But a lot of people have contacted me asking if they can buy a CJ kit from me so there may be enough interest in it to put it in production. I have all the molds so if some company or person wants to put the kit in production I'll be happy to discuss making the molds available to them.
I don't sell anything or do work for hire, sorry, I just make things for myself. I did post most of the details you'd need to do it yourself though: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/post-1985559
I have done a design for a TJ version but have not implemented it. I doubt there would be enough demand for it to make it worth putting into production.
I love that drawer system, looks like works perfect with the MORryde Trail Kitchen. Is that custom or another kit, if so who makes them? Thanks! Looking to do a very similar setup.
The drawer unit is homemade and designed to complement the MORryde Trail Kitchen. I documented it starting here: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/post-2519701
@@jeffscherb6520 Thank you! I actually just found your thread on expeditionportal right when you sent the link. I'm amazed that you were the one to do the initial designs and prototypes for so many of the products we see on market. Amazing work!!! I am now a fan. I hope those companies treat you well. Don't stop creating. :)
Thank you. A company has expressed interest in bringing it to market but they're not moving very quickly so I don't know when or if it will become available. If any other companies might be interested I'll be happy to discuss it with them.
MORryde has had it in production for about two years, and it's available at Quadratec: www.quadratec.com/p/morryde/flip-down-lock-box-wrangler-jk-jp54-070
The one in the video is a preproduction sample from Overland Outfitters (www.overland-outfitters.com). They say they'll be releasing them soon. I've also been testing a black one on my LJ...hosting.photobucket.com/images/cc163/jscherb/SpareBagsClean.jpg
it isn't meant to be useful by itself. Like most of my videos, it's part of a bigger story or review. In this case, a thorough review of the Auxbeam Bluetooth switch panel: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/post-2984630
I don't sell anything, I'm a designer. Sometimes companies license my designs and put them in production but my barn door designs have not been put into production, sorry.
Thank you. I designed this bag and sewed the prototype shown in the video myself. If the design gets picked up by a company for production, it'll be made wherever that company does their manufacturing. Many of my other fabric designs have been put into production, you can see a lot of them at www.overland-outfitters.com
@@carlosarellano3961 Sorry, I don't sell anything, I'm just a designer. A company has expressed interest in licensing this design from me but I haven't pursued it yet.
@@blueknight010 I mounted it to the side roll bars using brackets I made from hardware store parts. The problem with this rack in the 2dr is that the 2dr is so short that part of the rack is over the back seat, which could be hazardous for back seat passengers if they bounce up when going over a bump, so I don't recommend it for 2dr JKs.
If you're asking about the hardtop on my JKU no I am not working on a version for the JLU; I don't have a JLU handy here to work with and I don't plan to own one
You will need to know how to make molds for fiberglass and how to make parts in those molds and many other fabrication things. I described the entire process in this thread: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/ I did a design for a 2dr version but haven't built one yet: www.jk-forum.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/2drRear34b_zpsbbb50a33.jpg
The first production run was just about to start and then the company didn't survive the pandemic. The production tooling is basically done and a handful of preproduction samples were made but that's as far as it went. I've got most of the samples that were made, maybe someday I'll let a few go.
Project starts here: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/page-325#post-2954351. There's no parts list, and the posts about the slide are mixed in with other projects I've been working on, but most of the info you might need to build one is there. It's best if you ask further questions in that forum, I don't often get to Facebook (just coincidence I was on FB just after you posted your question).
@@mchammer9084 Sorry, I'm not in business and I don't sell anything. I'm just a designer who builds things like this for my own Jeep and for possible production by companies who may be interested in bringing my designs to market.
Construction is documented in the Expedition Portal forum, starting here: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/page-289#post-2753300
You are using the screwdriver to keep the stay rod aimed properly at the hole it needs to pop back in to. Without the screwdriver, the stay rod will not remain aligned with the hole and will not pop back in. The force on the screwdriver needs to lever the stay rod towards the center of the hole, which means you will be pulling the handle of the screwdriver towards the back of the Jeep while you are trying to close the tailgate.
@@jeffscherb6520 I understand you are not really selling these, but how about some lessons on how to do the fabrication.... I would like to make one of these tops/door for a "bobbed" cj8.
@@jasonbourne6541 I documented the barn door and hardtop projects in a lot of detail here: expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/barn-door-for-jk-factory-hardtops.127687/. If you have any questions after checking out that thread, please ask them in that forum/thread, I don't often check RU-vid messages.
Current status: the mold for making the grille in fiberglass exists and so does tooling to mold the grille in plastic. A number of preproduction samples have been made in both fiberglass and plastic and some have been installed on Jeeps and in use for quite a while now. The company that was planning to bring the grille to market did not survive the pandemic so at this time there isn't a plan for the grille to become available.
