If anyone bought one of these thinking it will support P25 Phase 2, you need to go get your head examined because there is something very wrong with you. It will however work on the 800-900mhz band if unlocked
Dude, looks like a nicely built radio. Not everyone can afford a 8-10k Moto (me lol) I like it far more than the typical boefang. Looks like an apx7k on one side, and a apx8k on the speaker side. Nice 👍
Here is why this is gerat, Im not saying you are 100% wrong but it isnt to easy to get a APX 8000 for the regular person. But I do agree with a few things you said
Slow, boring, clunky, slamming things maxing out your mic. This is a great example of how to never make a video. This is dreadful. Edit: The lip smacking, snot sucking, and talking through the snot rather than coughing to clear your voice is a nice touch.
There is a trunked digital radio system in my area that is not listed in radio reference. Can you please post a video tutorial showing how I can find and decode it?
Ok, as information, I watched about 5 minutes of your video before giving up. Apparently, everything is crap including your camera as you indicated. I was looking for an unbiased review. Honestly though, I think there are some other issues unrelated to this radio that you may need help with.
I,got one these because I watched this video. Having now played with it for 2 weeks I have flashed the new firmware to it and the top screen now has Alpha Tags. We put it on a Moto service monitor and the radio is pretty stable for a $100 radio. Audio is good also. Even the build quality is ok. It’s not a Motorola so you can’t compare it to one. And the programming software is free from the Manufacturer as well as the firmware updates.
Make a tute on flashing the firmware and anything else you recommend, maybe more people will work on it and find some fun things to do. I'd like to invert the top screen so when I look down it's the right way up - any way to do that with software?
Well, I learned something. I got the satire. I'd like to find a side by side comparison with an actual moto APX. I know that this only externally resembles the moto. Until recently I worked for a test equipment manufacturer and we had at least one example of (almost) every LMR portable and mobile. So I've played with APX radios. I was given a couple obsolete P-25 portables I'm trying to program for amateur radio. Hey, they need to geek a version of the APX-NEXT, next. Maybe repackage one of those smartphone/dual band transceivers🤔
I got one & for the price its not bad, if he hates it that much I'll take it off his hands! The mic connection sucks but workable. But I knew that going into it. Still trying to figure out how to use the features tho. I couldn't watch this whole video, lol
I don't get this at all - it works great, is nice and solid, and by any standard of comparison I have - is a great performer. This review is hardly valid. An abomination? why?
So I have a couple questions because I’m new to the mmdvm hotspots and pi-star and brandmister. Can this radio be used with a mmdvm hotspot and be used to access pi-star or brandmisters talkgroups
Picked one up for $109, works great on ham radio repeaters! Signal reports have been great. It is what it is, just because it looks like a Motorola APX-8000 don't expect it to operate as a P25 portable.
I know the Chinese radios, like Boafeng have a real hard time eliminating squelch tail, actually, they can’t. Can you silence squelch tail with this any better? It might have been worth buying if it at least did P25 conv.
Wow... Sounds like you need a Snickers bar and then maybe lighten up over a $100 radio... Why did you buy it if you were this convinced it would be such a horrible/crappy deal? Oh well. I think I'll go buy one now.
For $100 this radio works just fine. 12 watts. Works on GMRS and local simplex channels. Calm down and deal with the fact its not a Motorola APX for $4000.
This thing isnt even good enough to throw at someones head.. mine stopped charging a few days before the return window so i sent that piece of crap back for a refund.
first of all i find your review horrible if you dont like the radio dont buy it second of all the looks its called when a pattent runs out on something thats manufactured it gives other companies the opportunity to copy it
I bought 6 of these things for movie props. But then, I started using one on GMRS simplex and repeater offsets. Also, as a scanner for some local EMS frequencies. They outperformed UV5R's on just about every level. Receive audio quality, TX audio quality, battery life. Your review sounds like Motorola paid you to make it. 😂
