-------------Hey guys I am S.T. Techin! But you prob remember my older username "Sonic the Technohog 1992"-------------
List of things I am - A huge H.R. Pufnstuf fan - Artist - Animator - Roblox dev and the owner of the Roblox group "HyperStreak Studios!" - Voice actor for RU-vid videos
About the first reboot, Pufnstuf and Other Stuff metions this adaptation multiple times, and Marty says that there is no one else who could play Witchiepoo. (That’s mostly all the book says about it, it says once they get the lotl movie with Disney done, then they'll start working on others) (Also loved the video and here's hoping we get an actual reboot... eventually. Keep up the great work!)
!!!UPDATES!!! For the first canceled reboot i mentioned how I couldn't pin down a date but after rewatching and talking and researching with my friend @LOTLore that interview 100% takes place in the mid to late 90's and was from a show called "Scoop with Sam and Dorothy" which debuted in 1996. This would make this reboot the earliest known Pufnstuf reboot project.
I heard rumors Johnny Depp was approached to play Witchiepoo in a Pufnstuf movie but it never transpired It reminds me a lot of that Bugaloos preschool series when the Kroffts announced it at Comic Con that never transpired, it was rumored Cyndi Lauper was going to play Benita Bizarre and they ended up having Lise Simms from Phil of the Future play Benita Bizarre in the pilot
''We're not messing with it and don't mess with what's worked, but if you do screw it up, the audience who grew up with the show is going to be pissed off.'' Man, Marty Krofft really wanted to show an very light respect on HR Pufnstuf's legacy at all times like the other shows he and Sid created.
Yeah the Krofft's have always had a huge respect for their original shows and that only increased after the land of the lost film bombed and wasn't well received by fans. H.R. Pufnstuf especially since he's basically their Mickey Mouse
I’d like to say I enjoyed this video! My concern with a Krofft reboot whether it is H.R. Pufnstuf or one of their other shows IP wise is I want it to respect the source material and not go down the rabbit hole like 2009’s Land of the Lost movie that was was a nightmare. I don’t want them to screw with a show that meant so much to my family. I did respond to the Krofft post on social media and as a Krofft/Bugaloos fan and put in my two cents. I told them that if someday should they do a Bugaloos remake I will support them on the conditions that they get the original actors from the Bugaloos show to guest star as mentors to the new Bugaloos. And that Sparky the firefly is in it. I have cousins and second cousins that have children and maybe a modern adaption would get them interested in the show. I wouldn’t mind Pufnstuf being a cartoon. That would be interesting
TYSM! I agree that above all , any adaptation of these shows should at the very least respect and understand the source material while also doing something new with it. Now I don't know much about the Bugaloos but I do agree that if available some of the original casts from some of these shows deserve to at least have guest star roles or references to pay homage to them. What ever series the Krofft's decide to bring back in the near future I'm sure if they keep their fans in mind it'll turn out great!
@@STTechinHi ST Techin, sorry for the late reply. I wouldn’t mind a remake of H.R. Pufnstuf I think an animated version can work. I know at least two actors from the show are still alive Joy Campbell McKenzie and Sharon Baird who played Cling/ Orson and Judy Frog/Stupid Bat. Joy did express at one time in a interview many years ago that she’d like to participate in a remake. I dunno about Sharon Baird. I think the Sigmund remake worked so well for Amazon because they had Johnny Whittaker appear as a guest recurring character and they also had the creators guest star in a few episodes. Maybe an animated Pufnstuf could have two talking trees named Sid & Marty as a nod to the creators. Mutt & Stuff had that
I’m actually planning on making a 3d model of H.R Pufnstuf characters along with: Teletubbies Barney and Friends Sesame Street Caillou And also other characters from childhood shows
Additional info : This video is apparently from a six flags opening in 1970 April 11th. A few months before the film released , meaning the film must've wrapped up by then for this costume to be used off set and get sun damaged and dirty.
Is it just me or does Pufnstuf's colors in this feel a bit faded? Not sure if it's because the condition of the costume or the footage feel a little salty?
