Hiw can you not mention that the possible world champion Henri Toivanen & his co-pilot Sergio Cresto crashed & burned to death? That was the final nail in the coffin for group B as it was banned by the end of that day
Maybe fastest car but definitely not "the fastest land vehicle": On May 10th, 1893 Engine 999 of the Empire State Express, a New York Central locomotive pulling several passenger cars, set a world land speed record of 112-1/2 miles per hour on its run from Batavia to Buffalo, New York.
You should have kept going. Coz these much more, For instance in 2000 she came out of retirement to do the London to Sydney and came second outright in a Porsche. And done lost more.. Great video and very nicely done. Thanks Mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nicely done, but the video has one major false information: in the accident in Portugal 1986 Santos did not drive a Peugeot but a Ford RS200! Also "the cause of the accident remains debated", no it was caused by trying to avoid spectators that stood in the middle of the track, exactly as the drivers statement at 4:47 says. The Ford RS200 was fast but sadly not very loud. He caught the car in front, a Renault R5 Turbo, spectators jumped onto the road after that R5, not hearing the Ford RS200 was immediately behind it.
Some of us don't like throwing dice to determine whether we will live another day. I've just read the history of Ferrari and just about all his drivers died prior to around the time of this accident. He didn't seem to mind that they died. He was more upset that he had not won - it destroyed my previously held view of the man.
just a thing, that hp numbers are way low even in official rally spec, and with turbo tuning only, that same engine can achieve over 400 hp, going over a thousand with work inside of the engine and parts
