I recommend Ajijic Lake Chapala for retirees. SMA is shifting to a younger crowd. SMA has a lot of hills, the sidewalks are smaller and hard to get around if you have a mobility issue. The lake is really nice also.

Everyone is welcome to Mexico just as long they don't change our culture and traditions and they need to keep in mind that noise and music is 24/7 and loud so if you want your silence Mexico isn't for you, now another thing you need to tell your audience that obviously it's cheaper here in Mexico for any foreigner but it's unfair for locals because these same foreigners are making it hard for locals to buy or rent and they are being pushed out because they can't afford it so then only foreigners are the ones that can afford it also the cost of food for locals is getting expensive , so that's why Many locals are very unhappy specially in Merida, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, Puerto Vallarta (in Puerto Vallarta these retired foreigners bought a home next to a restaurant that's been there for 35 years it's called Gabby's just sued this place because of their live music Mariachi and got it closed, this is so frustrating and many are upset Mexicans are welcoming and nice but once you interfere with bringing in money for their survival and that's why many are putting murals " Gringos go home")and many foreigners don't even make an effort to speak Spanish so please when you are encouraging people to retire here please comment this situation because we are upset Mexicans are welcoming and nice but once you interfere with bringing in money for their survival and that's why many are putting murals " Gringos go home")and many foreigners don't even make an effort to speak Spanish so please when you are encouraging people to retire here please comment this situation because we are getting tired of this situation

I would say that if you have mobility issues Ajijic would be a better choice actually Lake Chapala because it's more flat .I have never been to any of these places .I'm just going off of videos that I've seen of all these places.I think I would be happy living at any of these places.I prefer colonial cities up in near the mountains where the weather is much cooler over beach cities where it gets hot and humid .

We live in Minnesota, and have a home in San Miguel. I think it’s easier to fly into Queretaro. I think the distance is about the same as the airport in Leon, but the drive time is only about an hour. You can also find anything in Queretaro. I believe the population is roughly 1.5 million.

I loved this video. I really felt like I was on the Chapala malecon. I think it's strange, though, that I didn't see anyone walking dogs. Are dogs not allowed on the malecon?
@Jessieinmexico
@Jessieinmexico 3 месяца назад
Oh that’s so nice of you to say. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Dogs are allowed and people do bring them. I think it just depends on the time of day. We were there during the hotter part of the day. Perhaps that’s why. But people often bring their dogs 😌

😅😂 too true. Hahaha. Sorry. That’s what the locals call them. It was my brain translating. Thanks for the observation. I’ll for sure be more careful. The locals call them islands because they are beaches that you can’t get to by roads. Only by boats 🤭

I've been seriously looking at the Lake Chapala area as my next, and last, home and in all of the videos I've watched over the past 1+ years, there're a few remarkable aspects I've noticed: Lack of car horns, lack of people rushing about and children free to play unleashed.

Lake Chapala is a very nice place to live. Of course, there are good things and bad things about every place. But there’s a reason a lot of people move there to retire. 👍🏻
