Since watching your videos, starting to think as I prepare to install new grips, I need to change from mid-size to regular. Maybe start with changing the 7i...Yes, my finger tips touch the pad of my hand when I grip the club. Fingers do not dig into the hand. As a single digit handicap playing 6500 yds plus, I still do not let the club swing as you prescribe. Strong but lacking speed with 77 mph swing speed. At 67 yrs old still much work to do. Peace.
Oh my ... Yes I would start there and speed up the hands feeling Do the baseball swing horizontal and really go fast.. can always get to a cruising speed.. if no disability can get you to over 100mph
Interesting one of your cruise videos popped up from around 15 years ago; part of the grip issue you discussed in this was the chaffing of the glove below the 6th finger. Assuming we have the correct grip that you describe and I believe I have that; what is the cause then of this and solution; is it grip pressure on left back 3 fingers or right middle 2 fingers or a combination of both. In achieving a light..ish grip for flexibility; I suspect there must be a balance to reduce this movement near the bell of the grip. I notice without a glove the natural oiliness or sweat on the hand or humid conditions will make it more difficult to stop this small movement of the grip.
The bell of the club is thicker at the end make sure you choke down under that about half an inch .. Yeah made those videos for the mass amount of cruisers It played in cabins every day for 5 mins at a time .. I have 10 vids from ships
Ludvig Aberg's "open right palm drill". Hit balls with left hand gripping club, but the right hand is open palm , lying gently on the club, open palm, during the whole swing. The most insane difficult drill ever, but trains the entire right side. It trains differently then just left hand only drill, there are videos on internet of this drill. Even Roger King may have to struggle a few times , on this one drill.
Love the drill ... Nope I didn't struggle doing it as that's my Harvey penick kinda swing the bucket feel .. The right hand is open just like holding a pale of water ... It's in the repertoire of tools to help people .. Thanks so much for the comment I appreciate you
@@rkswingking Add-in note....the results may not show the most, until after the 2nd day of the drill. Muscle tissue rebuilding and muscle memory pattern rebuilding happens overnight the 2nd day. The 1st day of this drill , is pure work, for one hour. the next day the right side muscles have conformed.
Roger, thanks for your instruction. I can tell you that my swing has greatly improved since I started listening to you. My overall swing is now much lighter and freer and my body feels no stress, as it had done for the past 25 years. I now swing in a far more relaxed and calmer fashion and just let the clubhead do the work. Better distance and straighter shots. The difference is enormous when compared to the 101 things I had been previously doing. I highly recommend any golfer to take time and listen to you. Regards from Portugal.
Good day to you from down under - I like your style. It seems fortunate you have high ceilings; have you smashed anything in the house yet??? When you watch Bobby J, he seems to start his rotation with the club head still at rest, so the shaft leans to the trail side, then he loads it up; it looks a little like a late flick of the club head to the horizontal and beyond.
I’m thinking if your not a tour player and one is trying to stay on the shaft/swing plain … the lead side being in control would accomplish this more better then the dominant side Being right side dominate I would have a more tendency to cast on my down swing causing a left to right ball spend from cutting across the ball What’s your opinion Earnest was a special dud 👍⛳️👍
So if want to b a swinger do I initiate downswing by pulling with lead arm IOT ensure right arm hand remains passive? Can you do a video on hitting motion? I feel like I’m caught in the middle of those two swing types. Not a good place. Thanks.
Don't pull down just swing the left arm with correct grip... The right hand throw video is the leverage .. I did a video on that .. I would have u just hit small shots with left arm only
Simple and easy to understand. Bullshits (!) have made it very complicated so that they can fool ppl and earn money. Sorry to say. Go ahead Mr KING. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
If your left heel comes up in backswing you will then be able to push the ground more If it doesn't the right foot re rolling to the target on the downswing will make the right knee go to 12 o'clock and that should make left leg straighten which adds the vertical component to the golf swing
Hi Roger, As a fellow follower of MDLT, I just wanted to say your explanation is even clearer than the book Understanding the Golf Swing. Thanks for sharing this visual-it’s really helpful! Phil
Now well clear. Too many so called this and that. At the end of the day end up with all bullshits. Those days I learnt from Faldo's VDO. After all these years now its cristal clear. Thank you very much.
You can do either leg Right leg teaches the backswing post The left leg teaches you the downswing post .. The balance you have to have while swinging ..not having the body interfere.
Well what a difference a day makes, or perhaps I should say, what a difference a couple of your videos make? I have watched and listened to you very carefully over the past couple of days and the difference in ball striking is remarkable. It just appears that my swing has been simplified, become more of a natural movement and noticeably far less stress on my body. Thank you from Portugal.
You can put tremendous pressure on the shaft WITHOUT much forearm rotation. Mike Malaska refers to "line of compression" with a string left hand grip and a neutral trail wrist extend/flex. The rotation comes from the clubs design along with the humerus bone rotating in its socket at the shoulder(ball and socket)
Agree with u . It is from top you start your downswing by elbow and right arm to bring club down as Mike Austin or David Duval says. If you wait too long with lag no good. Right elbow can not be tucked in like he says. Make sure keep your chest closed back facing the target.
Where is nearest airport, what is the fee for personal instruction vs video and what hotel accommodations are available? One on one communication seems to always produce the best results!! John Ludwig
Nashville airport (bna) Video lessons indoor after nov 2nd Is $150 an hour Hotel can be anywhere downtown or off west end avenue My location is in green hills
So that's a conscious movement on the downswing with the forearms and hands? It seems like the amount your hands and forearms rotate consciously can vary from round to round, leading to duck hooks if doing it too early.
It's a real shame golf instruction is not consistent across the board with most all PGA coaches. I've been working on improvements now for 4 years. The last 6 months the coach had been anal about putting the glove or something under the armpit by the middle of bicep or trail arm throughout the swing. My swing felt so limited and without power and accuracy and solid contact. I finally told him it's not for me. Time to move on. Loved the lead coach and his was as he wasn't anal and worked with your swing and abilities and age. But that elbow move the one coach tried to enforce before moving on was a death move for my swing. I hit the ball pretty solid and consistent for a 67 year old. 150 with 8 iron, why he wanted me to change that one move was beyond me. I ruined my swing for awhile. But like I said it's hard to learn the golf game when coaches are do different. We look to coaches to learn the proper ways and most of us don't know any better especially early on are journey with coaches to pick the right coach. That is if we can even find one in our area. Online at least we get an idea of what they're like and if they resonate with us we can try them. Anyway, I have much more power and control when I let that elbow be free and not constricted. Understanding you can't flare the elbow to the sky either.
You’re right Roger … the golf swing has been dissected over and over again and again by many others and “put” in there words as they understand it …. But still it’s all the same We as learners have to find that demonstration that “clicks” as you have shown here Information finds us all if we just stay diligent to the search and your videos on how the body works in the golf swing will find that person or persons Keep them coming because more are still searching 👍⛳️👍
Radial flexion sets it ... Ulnar deviation thru impact .. However if u just make a natural throwing motion (like underhand toss ) this should happen naturally
@@rkswingking Thank you for your reply but my question was more addressed to shaft plain or I guess it would be easier to say single plain setup for a preset hand position I find when the hands are at a relaxed position or at the ulnar setup …. The single plain is in jeopardy because at the start of the backswing the shaft plain is not setup correctly I do apologies if you’re not a single plain person but I’ve used many of your videos in my swing …aka Bryson DeChambeau single plain setup and swing and they all worked great Thank for your patience and understanding of my question
Oh i got ya now I can't swing on one plane like moe and bryson. My left hand bows horribly on backswing The good news is 2 fold Centrifugal force makes the hand go into ulnar deviation at impact..And everything I am teaching here works as you are on the plane already So a throwing motion should be perfect for you . Lucky guy
My issue was almost solved with this video when I complete the backswing but in transition my right elbow collapses and folds in causing both arms to fold. I will study this and more from you to hopefully solve this problem. I learned to swing reading Hogan's book
Great stuff. Iv'e been using weights on strings & various similar contraptions iv'e made since read Earnest Jones "swing the clubhead" since the eighties. I like a linen string tied to a wiffle ball, i make it as long as my arm & the ball should land on spine at base of neck at top & finish for width & plane. Helps to maintain the head as center of circle which encourages accuracy. The left hip needs to swing out of the way to get faster.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Being older, I’m not as flexible as I was. So a three quarter backswing as you mentioned still gives me plenty of distance. Thank you.. I was wondering, was your son a Marine?
Careful though. Years ago someone pointed out to me that my right elbow was getting too far away from my body and tucking it in helped my swing. Take that for what it's worth from someone like me who hits about 15 good shots per round of golf. 😥
Watch the video closely .. You could have had a flying right elbow and you tucking the elbow feeling might have put it in the right place . The number one thing I know Feel and real is different and most people are not doing what they think they are ... Nor do I teach everyone the same way
