My fellow train enthusiasts back in Canada and the US of A would have really appreciated a few well-thought out and apposite comments, rather than the solitary eructation spoiling the otherwise near-reverent silence usually found in a cathedral. To have such a masterpiece of technology from the past, being revised using modern techniques, without any edifying explanation, is, to my mind, a clear oversight. Ask Mr Langer, HE knows how I like to have things explained to me.
A train named after a globalist who wants to strip you of all your rights,,Wants to ban you forever from walking in the countryside,,,And wants to ban you from ever being able to eat meat eggs chicken pork and fish,,And wants you instead to eat bugs ,,,And you honour him,,,,,Propaganda and brainwashing are powerful things,,,
Many thank's, this building is brand new, specialy build for the A1 Steam Trust, the tracks outside that will link up with network rail is / has been laid by volunteers from the army over a few months period, just shows how so many are excited by the P2 project, cheers...Mal
@@YorkshireMalsTrains Hi Mal, Am subscribed to their website and this is what we can do when people really come together for good, instead of dividing ❤️
Hello Mal, fantastic video from the locomotive workshop. At our age it is a bit more difficult to get back under the locomotives. But you are still sporty.😍 Yes, it takes a lot of work to fully repair a steam locomotive. Very nicely filmed, thank you for showing it and have a nice day my friend. Best wishes, Wolfgang
Hello Wolfgang, thank's my friend, crawling under the loco was well worth the effort to get a bit of unique video, everything on this loco is brand new built by very skilled people, take care...Mal
Do they ever work on the engine? I swear it always looks the same with frames and a cab. Even on their insta page it never looks like they build on. No hate, just genuinely curious why it looks like no progress is made.
Ohh you wonderful tech kid - luckily you´ve got a nice adult to watch over you! But No´nt bad curling under a loco like that, mate🤗 And of course thanks for throwing in some good music!
With the muffled voices in the background and sheer size it's like being in a Cathedral to the worship of steam. It is amazing what we humans can do when we want to rather than bringing misery to many to line the pockets of so few.
@@YorkshireMalsTrains One has to wonder, Mal, the progress steam traction might have made had the technology not have canned by BR. Somewhat ahead of modern efforts? What I do find very encouraging is the new work being undertaken by steam enthusiasts all over Britain to keep this wonderful technology alive. I'm ex pat Yorkshire living in Oz for the past 50 years, but on a visit back to Hull in 2018 we had the pleasure of being pulled behind B1 61264 Pickering to Whitby and back. I tipped in a tenner for the cause. Not a lot, but it would buy them a bag of coal or a few gallons of water. Every little helps.. It must never be forgotten that Dai Woodham more or less saved British steam traction from oblivion. No point relying on Draper of Hull. He cut through over 700 of the buggers. Mind you, he did save one. A Black 5 "the cleanest in the yard" Love the progress being made on this P2. The boiler will be the killer I suspect. Lots of coin needed...
It NOT named after the ship!!! (I can still remember the A1 original announcement a decade ago, and it was most definitely named after HRH Prince of Wales.) Don’t believe the “pony & trap” some bloke told you in the shed.
@@YorkshireMalsTrains correct, some of us do know better. (The member you spoke to cannot suddenly change the story about the loco’s name, those of us who have been around long enough remember their original statement about the reason for naming it ‘Prince of Wales’, and that was certainly several years before that aircraft carrier was even built.)
@@struck2soon Like many many others i don't think it should have a name royalty related anyway, should be Scotland related where P2's worked back in the day
I think steam is about to have a renaissance due to huge advances in technology where using sintering and 3d printing machines complex parts can be easily produced in a fraction of the time of an engineered part and be as strong and viable as any milled or lathed part once forged, if they can 3d print a whole house then the mind boggles what else can be made.
Steam locomoives will not have a renaissance, they are inefficient, their exhaust is destructive of amenities and they are unavailable for long periods each day. Enjoy them ,if you like, but they went out of use for these, and many other reasons.
I’ve no doubt that No. 2007 will be an absolute beast of a locomotive when it’s finished. What a sight it’ll be to see it thundering on the national network.
Mark Allatt, Chairman, The P2 Steam Locomotive Company, commented: “HRH The Prince of Wales has been a fantastic supporter Tornado and along with HRH The Duchess of Cornwall formally named the new locomotive in 2009. Since then, Tornado has hauled the Royal train on no less than three occasions on behalf of Prince Charles, so we are only too delighted to be able to confirm the name for No.2007 in his honour.
@@YorkshireMalsTrains It seems odd, a Welsh-related name in a series specifically designed for the North British section. I would have named it Roderick Dhu.
@@tacfoley4443 I would think more people would say William Wallace than Roderick Dhu! I was fascinated by the 'dark lightning' as a kid. On a more serious note: Is there a Scottish title held by the Prince during his time as Prince of Wales? That might be more suited to the new loco, but still honouring the man? He would doubtless agree, if you asked him.
No its not, just ask anyone at A1 steam trust like i did, its named after the royal navy ship, just like Tornado is named after the RAF Tornado jet fighter, the 3rd new build will be a Gresley V4 and have a army related name so all 3 are armed forces related!
@YorkshireMalsTrains Sorry to disappoint you but when the name was first announced she was named after HRH. The ship tie up was much later, no doubt due to Steve Davis getting involved.
@YorkshireMalsTrains Official announcement way back in 2013; No. 2007 TO BE NAMED ‘PRINCE OF WALES’ In honour of Prince Charles’s 65th Birthday, Britain’s most powerful steam locomotive is to be named after the heir to the throne The P2 Steam Locomotive Company (P2SLC), the builder of Britain’s most powerful steam locomotive, is delighted to announce that the name of its new Gresley class P2 2-8-2 steam locomotive will be ‘Prince of Wales’. The new steam locomotive is being named in honour of HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, to coincide with his 65th birthday celebrations and The Queen has kindly approved the use of His Royal Highness’s name for the locomotive. The P2 Steam Locomotive Company is a subsidiary of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust (a registered charity), the builders and operators of No. 60163 Tornado, the world-famous new steam locomotive completed in 2008 and officially named by TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall at York station on 19th February 2009. The mission of the P2SLC is to develop, build and operate an improved Gresley class P2 steam locomotive for main line and heritage railway use. These 2-8-2 locomotives were the most powerful express passenger locomotives to operate in the UK, designed by Sir Nigel Gresley to haul 600 ton trains on the arduous Edinburgh to Aberdeen route. Sadly the design was never fully developed and they were rebuilt in 1943/4. The P2SLC is building the 7th member of this class and will demonstrate how the design can be fully realised through use of modern computer design and modelling techniques, enabling it to deliver its full potential hauling passenger trains at high speed across the national network. It is estimated that £5m will be needed to build No. 2007 over 7-10 years, with funds being raised through public subscription. The formal launch of the project will take place in February 2014. There have been many steam locomotives named after The Prince of Wales over the years. These included Gresley class A3 No. 2553 (later No. 60054) Prince of Wales, sister locomotive to No. 4472 Flying Scotsman, which was named by HRH The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) on a visit to Doncaster Works on 11th November 1926. This locomotive was scrapped in 1964. It is well known HRH has a passion for our heritage and a particular interest in steam, but also the skills and craftsmanship required to build a steam locomotive from scratch. It is a clear demonstration that the UK can still turn its hand to quality heavy engineering, making use of modern techniques design and construction techniques whilst engaging and inspiring a new generation that nothing is beyond the realms of possibility.”

@@YorkshireMalsTrains well according to the press releases from 2013, "The P2 Steam Locomotive company announced that its Gresley class engine would be named Prince of Wales, to coincide with Prince Charles’ 65th birthday celebrations today (Thursday, November 14)". @@YorkshireMalsTrainsI have an original worksplate from D6898 (37198) Replica ones have 1964 on them, mine has 1963 which was her build date. 1964 was when she was handed over to British Rail. She needs to be undercover in my opinion, as she’ll deteriorate been out in the elements. Nice video by the way.
The problem is getting custom vehicles certified on the main line, this is why they are quite rare. Only a few can afford it. Example - the NYMR Pullman diner would make much more money if it ran to Whitby. But the horse box van carrying the generator would be a nightmare getting certified for the 2 miles of “big railway”.
I needed to know why they couldn’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for most of the mainline Trains so that they could extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock which will include the class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign all of them into an overhead wire line trains and also make most of them into Five carriages per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 8-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 10-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 507, class 508, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into 11 carriages per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers? A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it even much more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 carriages per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 carriages per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Gardner 6LXC, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 87 Octagon and Every 48 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those 18 Tonne Boxes of Coal for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!!! Hello Mal, this is another video for me as a steam locomotive fan. I am enthusiastic about these many beautiful vintage steam locomotives. You are really lucky 🍀🍀❤❤that you were able to drive the locomotive. It is a great experience. Thank you very much, my friend, for this beautiful video.❤❤ I wish you and your family all the best, stay healthy and best wishes. Wolfgang
Hello Wolfgang, many thank's my friend, yes steam will always rule for me, the noise, smell, just all the moving parts to be seen is amazing, take care...Mal
Always knew you´ve got a way with the ladies. Both ones on the tracks and the ones driving´em. Beatiful too watch such an achievement as with this new build. Cheers, my friend.
Cheers mate, yes this new build is another work of are for those skilled guys at Bluebell, been there twice now and could never get bored with it, fantastic railway.
We spent a very wet wednesday at Swanage a few years back - it's lovely to see the trains running and sunshine - thank you Mel and Jen for sharing this with us much appreciated
Hello, another fantastic video from a trip to a steam locomotive and steam engine exhibition. The landscape with the hill and the castle ruins is very beautiful. It was great to see so many steam tractors and machines, especially the steam-powered saw and large logs, which were great. And boating was also on the agenda. Thanks for showing and stay healthy my friend. Best wishes, Wolfgang
Hello Wolfgang, many thank's my friend, yes this trip was a great mix of things we love and nice weather always helps, that saw with the traction engine sure looks dangerouse to use but those guys are all experts, take care...Mal
Brilliant railway, I've got some fond memories of my grandparents taking me for a ride on the Ffestiniog when I was young, always a good day out there 😀
Lovely to get this insight views from the Swanage line that I normally watch "from above". And well - have admit at first I was a bit concerned; the clip of Jen deep into her phone could have suggested she´s not into trains, but we know better of course. And then - luckily - we got that warm smile in the end! And a terrific cabbing plus Mal like a kid in a toy store at the market - not much more to wish for really. Or, well - until the next vid of course....
OMG, you make me laugh so many times a year my jaw aches, to call you a mate is a vast understatement, dear friend is more like it, well we did just about everything at Swanage but as you know cabbing 563 was the best, just a perfect few days in lovely weather, many thank's for your nice words friend.
Mal my friend here today you have outdone yourself. Lomotive, trains, tractors and antique agricultural machinery and even the ferry. The show is always on your channel. A big like my friend. In Italy we are disappointed and angry about the shameful performance of our national team. The thing that hurts us the most, however, is that the leaders of the national team do not resign, so for the third time we will not participate in the World Cup. It's just a game, but in Italy it's our favorite game.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
How wonderful that these skills still exist in this iPad/smart phone led world! As an engineering apprentice through to an Industrial Engineer in the 60's I love to see the skills I learned still being used. It just gives me thrills to see. To think these lovely engines were designed with pencil and paper and slide rule and worked from the final design albeit with little tweaks here and there as per initial trials. And, the cleanliness of that work area, it looks like a typical power station. Great video, you seem to know what turns us engineers on!
