We live on the Oregon Coast and our craggy coast line sadly is touched by tragedy most winters with "tourists" and inlanders coming to see the stunning waves especially when we have King Tides. I remember I moved up to the UP of Michigan literally September 2017. I saw this live and I think it was 2-3 people got sucked out while filming and died/were never found. I asked if it’s always like that cause coming from Florida hurricanes, that still was the scariest set of waves I’ve ever seen cause I remember diving off the black rocks for my buddies wedding in 2015, and they have to be 23-35 ft easy maybe 40 to the water line. N I was like no way in hell are those waves towering those rocks from wind alone. Luckily every local assured me that was pretty much the worst storm they’d ever seen on Lake Superior at least in their lifetimes.
That’s Lake Superior in October for you. This is worse than it usually is. My friends live on the lake so we go out to their house in September or October and mess around in the waves.
I remember that storm. I drove out to Little Presque but it wasn't all that wild there, just windy and rainy. Blackrocks was on a whole different level, never seen waves that big before in town.
Lived on Crescent Ave 100 yards off Lake near Presque Isle. The power that Lake has especially in Winter 94 & 95 was mind blowing. They shut the coast road off. Lake Superior has my greatest respect!!!
