I saw this years ago and also read the book. Of course the book was way better and the ending was quite different from the movie but I do understand that the movie cant be the exact same as the book. Nicholas Evans is a fantastic writer and Mr. Redford is an amazing director.
I'm searching for the soundtrack with the original singers, such as Dwight Yokam, Alison Krause... I am just finding orchestra versions. Can anyone help me find it?
@@LitoGeorge Not meant to be mean. He is up there; still love the guy. Take a chill pill. He just looked stiff getting off the horse. We all do when we get old. One day you might know.

By rights, as a guy, I should hav e hated this movie - it had the potential to be a maudlin, corny tear jerker.. But Redford got all the elements just right - a great screen adaptation of the book, a stupendous location, a hauntingly beautiful score by Thomas Newman, and three great actors with genuine star power to carry it. Having grown up near NYC, I thought Annie's character as a high achieving,, high anxiety, type-A professional really hit the nail on the head. Probably the only "chick flick" I have ever enjoyed, or even been able to sit thru.
When I was younger, I never understood why he said "Maybe you should let them fall." I understand it now. Perfect script, perfect scene and perfect film.
I'm watching the series right now again on PBS and it's great. I watched it when I was a teenager living in the Caribbean and fell in love with Hari and I'm still madly in love with him. I just recently bought the books and dying to dig in. Fantastic story.
This series will be re-running on The BBC in the USA starting 1/6/15. I saw it when I was very young & it inspired me to investigate history more carefully & thoroughly. Behind huge events, there are many stories.
