hey Patty, I am watching this in 2024 and came across your video researching about fashion and what not because I am in a fashion lab class so doing a lot of research, and looking up potential career path videos for myself. I really do like the fashion buying job you are currently in because I would be able to learn new skills that I have been wanting to learn and have that actual hands on experience. I also feel like I have great taste and great intuition with things so I am really excited to potentially set up an internship doing this and just learn as much as i can. :) Thank you!
Hlo, i am a recent graduate and i started developing a keen interest in fashion buying. Could you please give me some guidance and actually coild you share some tips on how to make a portfolio for a fashion buyer because everywhere i only get things for a fashion designer but no one teaches how to make a portfolio of a fashion buyer. If possible could you share your portfolio so i could learn more about it.

Wow! Very great tips.. feeling a lot less anxious about starting a whole new resume from film production to fashion. 😊…I’d love a video for how to speak in a fashion interview and increasing my chances of landing the position. Thank you🎉
Hi Patty, Im so glad to come across your channel as its really helpful for my current starting phase as a assistant buyer. 😍 Could you please recommend a fashion buying basics and strategies which can boost my knowledge to push me into buyer role. ☺️ Really appreciate you advice as well as your response. ☺️☺️
My major is fashion buyers assistant. I went to the art institute of Chicago n received a fashion certificate. now I'm in business school. I also have a ton of retail and management experience thank u for making this video
nice vid! i’m always late so no judgement. not sure if you guys know this but BV has several US outlets. upon checking last week, men’s clothing and shoes are always 50% or more off and accessories are always 30% or more off. not sure about women’s items. they are usually a season behind. they had the boots shown in the vid! limited sizing but you should call and establish a relationship with one of their lovely employees (to keep you in the loop). btw… their employees are SOOOOOO nice!! good luck! stay fashionable!
Hey great video! I've been doing a major in psychology but am considering pursuing fashion business. Do you think adding a minor in business or marketing alongside a psychology major would be helpful for a career in fashion buying?
I loved your video! Thank you to make this video so clear and opened my mind for what I might want for my career. Going to College this fall for fashion merchandising in NY area!!😘
My fear is that I might be overqualified, because I went from years of fashion retail, have a bachelors, then switched to tech, but my passion has always been fashion and I want to relocated and don't even mind taking a junior role to break back into the industry. So I''m trying to tailor my experience on my resume. Wish me luck lol
I am trying to figure out what size should I order for the Marine Serre top. Normally I order small. My bust is 86cm and my waist 66-67cm. Should I go a size up? Thank you in advance!
This has been my dream job since I was a senior in high school but family talked me out of my dream because it wasn't "practical" or "realistic" in their mind. I have a business finance degree but watching this (and the fact that lately I've been feeling unfulfilled) has confirmed for me that this is still my passion and what I want to do. What I WILL do. Speaking it into existence! Thanks for the video. ☺️
Write your resume like your packing for a trip…..that was an amazing analogy!!!! I love this advice video thank you so much. I can’t wait to update my resume
Thank you so much for posting this! I had no idea this job existed when I started undergrad. I’m going to go to graduate school to prepare to be a fashion buyer!💗💗
i have 9 years suit retaile experience but zero fashion buying experience, but was offered a job full-time on the sales floor (high end suiting) with a 20 month training program where the company will train me over 20 months and get me to pop out of the showroom once a week to learn buying with the head office team. They even said i could go to Italy and Spain since the suit fabrics are all sourced from those regions. I dont have a bachelors, never studied. I only sold suits. Do you think 20 months is enough for me to learn the basics of buying? I am super nervous, but excited. Glad i found this video
Thank you for this video! I am looking at an internship and feel intimidated by the numbers/math portion of things. Any words of wisdom or advice on how to feel confident in this. I've been trying to study but want to study the right things. Thanks!
Thank you so much for using your platform to speak up! I really admire that you weren’t afraid to do so! I’m currently a Junior in hopes to land an internship for Merchandising/Buying
