The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), founded in 1894, is an international organization of some 50,000 professionals. ASHRAE fulfills its mission of advancing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education. Founded in 1906, the Illinois Chapter, with over 1,000 members, is the largest and oldest chapter of ASHRAE in the world. The Chicago Chapter and the Illinois Chapter merged in 2000. This organization is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.
R32, R290 and R744 are the only refrigerants that should be used. They cover low medium and high temperature refrigeration and heat pumps and are as or more efficient than any of the high GWP refrigerants like R410. They are also much less expensive.
