As much as I want to see FF9 in the game show I highly doubt it will be touched upon. Square-Enix really don’t listen to their player base. 9 and Parasite Eve have been long overdue.
I think this kind of game depends on the character. Basically, you play just to enjoy looking at the game characters. That’s all. I pre-ordere this game because the cover is amazing. That’s it, and so far, I haven’t played it yet. But I like to add to my collection. I think I will play it once I run out of games to play.
I'm dropping this comment to share why this game is so special to me. Growing up, I lived in a lower class, low income house. It was me and several other cousins living with my grandparents and respective parents. Every friday, my grandfather would give my cousins and I some cash so we could go spend it whenever. My older cousin (who is like a brother to me), and I. We pitched our money together so we could head to a local video rental store that also sold second-hand consoles and games. We were able to get gems like the MGS series, Resident Evil, and this special little title right here. The moment my cousin and I played this, we were hooked, spending countless weekend nights staying up to 100% a village, or watching him progress farther in the story. Sometime in 2007-2008 christmas year, my mother worked so hard to get me my first ever PS2. Yeah, the 360 had already been out, but I could care less. This meant I could finally enjoy this game on my own time. With my old save too! The first time I ever beat it officially, I was awestruck. I continued to play it over and over, so many times I lost count. When I heard it would come out for the PS4 (and 5 later on). You bet that was the first game I got as soon as I got my ps4. This game is more than just a fun little JRPG. This is something that brings so many warm memories, like a warm, cozy cup of hot coco on a cold winter day. I can't express enough how much I love this game.
if they do go ahead with FFIX remake, i would hope there are some new playable chars you can use like beatrix/tantalus members. likewise for FF Tactics
I've been hearing about this 9 remake for years, and nothing has been confirmed. At the rate this company gets things done, I'll never see an FF 6 remake. Seeing their treatment for 7, that might not be a bad thing, though.
I could do without a XIII trilogy remake, at least not if it means foregoing an IX remake. Not because I don't like the games, I love them, but because I think they are largely un-needed (unless you want them on console). The steam versions all support some amazing HD upgrade mods as it is. IX also has the amazing Mogouri mod, but there is only so much it can do. SE should really hire the folks that have done the UE5 remake of the IX intro sequence.
I played the demo on switch and like it then i pre order on Amazon but then after watching previews i cancel the pre order now im having doubts again of getting this game.
Just forced my through 13-2, oof. I enjoyed the first one but the second was honestly so bad..not to mention half the ost really didn’t belong in the game, it just didn’t fit…from gaping plot holes to rushed character interactions I super duper didn’t like 13-2 but Caius…Caius is my fuckng boy yal. Ngl Noel was incredibly relatable too, the game really just should’ve been about them and yeul
I HATED FFIX. It was my first FF that I didn’t have to share with my older brothers. I loathed that game. FFX was a significantly better game & had a more intriguing story & character development/depth than 9.
That is madness, like he said. Im actually playing DQ2 remake on Android, almost to final boss and its been a great game! I've beat 1, 4, didn't beat final boss on 6 or 9, beat 8 on 3DS but could never touch the super boss Estark. I've beat DQMJ 1&2. I love the series, going to play 3 next, but sadly don't have a way to play this amazing game. I think everyone's opinion is their's to have, but to just completely turn it down over 1 thing like that is crazy. It's not like blue dragon where every boss fight has the same ridiculously annoying boss theme lol.
As a Final Fantasy VII fan, I have to say no. The game was overpushed and overhyped. The story was totally altered and destroyed everything wonderful that Sakaguchi gave us back in 1997 and The side quests were absolutely horrible. If there’s a game who will win the 2024 GOTY is Blackmyth: Wukong
What AAA has Square lined up apart from KH4? We know about 7R3 but that's like years away. Square has to announce their next big projects at same point for the next couple years. Hint hint, FF9R. if they announce something AAA that isn't 9 remake on TGS then I'll concede that it probably doesn't exist lol. But Ill give them until the actual anniversarry. If there isn't any news by then regarding it then it's most likely canned.
Another tinfoil hat to add to the theory: It seems it's commonly believed that FF9 will be a small budgeted remake which I don't think is the case at all. Yoshi-P has commented about it recently that if FF9 were to "theoretically" be remade, it's a grand and monumental task. He even mentioned that the scale of it would be longer than FF7 storywise so it will be a huge undertaking. Now being part of the board of directors he wouldn't say such things if FF9 is modestly budgeted, assuming the remake exists. So I 100% believe the game is a lot larger and grander in scale than we originally anticipated. Granted I don't think it will be a 3 parter like 7, but the reason I think he called it a huge undertaking is because they plan to make it on the same quality as 7, but cover the entire game from start to finish not 3 parts so that's understandably a tall ask. Regarding it's announcement on TGS, I actually don't think we won't hear about it on there, or anything this year, for that matter. Personally I think the best time to announce it is on the anniversary itself next year. Having it released on the anniversary puts them on a deadline so I think the best approach is to just officually announce the game on the anniversary, then the actual release can then be arbitrary on the same fiscal year.
It is interesting, imagine how they can remake 9 without losing its essence, meaning keeping the turn based combats and the graphic style, but with a modern twist.
