You know, I subscribed years ago because he was such an amazing player. I hadn't seen him come up in years and then this video popped up. Sorry to hear he passed. May his music live on forever.
How many have noticed how effortlessly he seems to IMPROVISE on the banjo - damn few even try . Think about it . And his ' trills ' are the best I've ever heard ...
wow some more dave hum!!! if that's you posting this Mel, thank you for everything. i bought some of dave's tabs from you about a year ago, still listening to him daily. he's truly a legend to me i hope your family knows that he's got real fans
Hi jcarter2k, Thank you for letting us know Daves got real fans, the girls and I are always so touched by the kind comments people leave. We have started to go through his old hard drive and are finding little musical gems that in time we hope to put on his website , his website is still a work in progress however I am delighted to say we have managed to upload some of his backing tracks so far. best wishes Mel Hum
I was visiting my Son in Salisbury just last week, and the first thing that came to my mind outside the Old Woolworths is this town is dead without the sound of Dave Hum playing his Banjo and bringing such lovely melodies to the town and brightening up every shopping trip in the city R.I.P Dave Hum
Hi Martin, this is the Dave Hum family uploading videos and just to let you know we are making a few extras on Daves website. Still a work in progress .
This man is incredible. Discovered his work months ago and am still finding new material he’s created all the time. Look at the joy he’s bringing to those around him.
Bless you guys. Thanks for your music. I've been in Salisbury from 2002-2007 then emigrated to Perth, Western Australia. Your music travelled with me and helped me cope with the rainy days.
I was mentioning Daves channel here and said that he was awsome and that he looked like a homeless guy and played like a professional. The guy says oh.....Dave was homeless. Can anyone confirm this.
@@KenneyCmusic Oh, I love clawhammer. I play three finger style, but I would like to learn clawhammer. My banjo is neglected. I got busy with life and it ended up under the bed. Last year, about this time, I dragged it out and started playing again. Then I broke my pinky finger on my left hand, very badly. Had to have surgery because the break included a tendon detaching (of all things). It's taken a year, and it's better, but will never really be exactly same, darn it. But I'm determined. This song, Blackberry Blossom was always one of my favorites to play.
I've loved his banjo videos but was totally ignorant he actually hailed from England, until now. I thought the sort of Irish folk sounds were just Appalachian influence, not actually from being from that side of the pond. Absolutely love his legacy; he is appreciated and on playlists of many people he inspires to this day.
I'm mesmerized with his style. I play banjo and fiddle, and almost every fiddle tune I look up to learn on RU-vid, I swear there's a Dave Hum version of it.
Hey everybody, tabs and original backing tracks are now available at Dave's website from his family, including for this awesome song, "Timour The Tartar." Just search online for "Dave Hum backing tracks."
