Welcome to the Arthur Growler Channel on You Tube, Main focus is freight trains, line side & on railway stations in the North Wales & Cheshire region, including the local borderlands line around Hawarden Bridge. Trains in general !! Try to have a day out on the railway at least once a week. Like to explore Steam + Diesel Galas on preserved Railways and visit the local Llangollen Railway. Hope you like the RU-vid Channel..... Enjoy :-)
I wish they’d bring back growlers and regular coaches again on everyday train routes get fed up of boring diesel and electric multiple units to give todays trains their old sixties name.
Amazing footage mate, can't go wrong with a visit to Acton Bridge. I saw the 57s on the outbound leg at Crewe, they certainly look striking in that GBRf livery
Awesome video as usual, these were two great tours and I was lucky enough to see both.. which doesn't happen very often! 😆 44871 put on a nice show, she wasn't too great when I saw her but I enjoyed seeing her nonetheless - the 47 was more than likely the highlight of that tour for me, thanks to the driver with all the tones he did! 😅 I believe I spoke to you while the 60/57 tour was in Chester, I was wearing a black and white coat, and I was at the end of the platform in that video of the 60 running light past Chester. 👍 Again, amazing video - I really enjoyed it!!
In the late 1980’s I used to travel on this Bidson Line each way once a week for 5 years to college in Liverpool, so it was nice to see what we passed each time. I remember seeing diesel shunters working here.
If you look on the video, when the shunter leaves the yard into the steel works there’s the old shunters shed. I do remember yellow diesel shunters parked up outside but never seen them move. I only remember Allerton based shunters doing the shunting for steel and wood into the paper mill. Used to be about 3
08615 is ex BR at some part of its life. Wabtec supply the shunters for the steel works. Steel comes up in coils, finished off at shotton. Painted & galvanised products I believe!
i think its for distribution, seems ironic to me that steel coil is being delivered to a place that used to make steel, this needs to stop we need steel production and the push to net zero is making the likes of china the world leaders in steel production at the cost to the west
Awesome tones, I used to see this in WBQ all the time, I've not seen it for a while since the 56s stopped running it though..... Amazing catch, when was this? 👍
@@arthurgrowler5749 oh right cool, I don't think the 56s have been on that working for ages, or at least they've not been for a long time based on when I've seen them.... Yeah, gets all in your hair.. bit of a pain haha! Last time I filmed a 56 on this working was on the 27th of May, 2023.
@@arthurgrowler5749 oh right, I suppose I don't check that often.. only when I want to/might see it.... 😅 I really want to see 098 before she gets 69-ified but I've not heard anything of her for a while so I'm wondering if she's already gone in...
Sand everywhere pal In my hair, face, down my jacket !! Even the passengers on the platform had a dose of it 😂 To be fair the pavers on the platform had a fresh look if anyone was bothered to brush it in 😆
Excellent stuff thank you . Having seen numerous clas 68s in traffic it seems curious how even when the rest of the loco is fairly clean the area on the cab side just above the number is often dirty to the extent that the company name is almost obscured.as on 68033 and others shown here.
@@arthurgrowler5749Being an early member, I like to support the Llangollen Railway. The forecast said heavy rain all day, so I made the decision to give it a miss with showing my car. The next thing I noticed was the strong sun shining through my windows, but it was too late and so I ended up kicking myself. It's the last time I take any notice of the forecast. It's happened quite a few times lately. Still, your video has made up for it a little.
@@antman09ful1 Haven’t been before so wanted to go up on this occasion. All the talk no tractors but time moves on….. bit disappointing no shuttle service from the station to the depot to be honest. Local bus service on hand so used that. Not too expensive £2 for single journey
Nice capture Arthur,t least it was warm and sunny, lovely day.Shame about the Stagecoach service to and from the site, huge queue of people waiting almost an hour for a bus to arrive cor Carlisle, then four appeared at the same time. One of which refused to pick up nd it was empty.
@@jerrydowse5061 yes was there when the lady driver slowed right down in a empty bus and drove off !! I was surprised there wasn’t a shuttle bus in operation considering the distance between the station and the depot, surely they money made would of paid for itself but I’m sure there was a reason behind me it ? In all enjoyable day and weather was good considering the forecast.
