Got it from here. www.petloader.com/shop/?_gl=1*1ddkpvg*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwp4m0BhBAEiwAsdc4aKkrDF6ywIqH45OFDt3PE1SgNgkxVFq0KgRETQ5tR44IfDAAkiaBfBoC7QsQAvD_BwE
Traded in my canyon for the big boy since we got a second dog and it wasn’t going to work haha. Had 4 dealerships all over New England on the hunt. Finally one in CT tracked one down in the color I wanted. No this is the 2.7L turbo gas. Love it.
Thanks! We got it from Pet Loader, here’s a link for the site. Lots of options to choose from. www.petloader.com/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAACspcCB5qelGkmTt13fMHzciqvJWB&gclid=CjwKCAjwp4m0BhBAEiwAsdc4aKkrDF6ywIqH45OFDt3PE1SgNgkxVFq0KgRETQ5tR44IfDAAkiaBfBoC7QsQAvD_BwE
Wanted something different than everyone that saw going with the diamond plate black. Plus we are considering a wrap later down the road that could be challenging with the diamond plate (don’t know but played it safe). We did not sleep without pulling the bed all the way out. Our bedding is too wide to try that. We could modify the platform to be a little shorter if we wanted. TBD on that though.
Agreed! Cant say I’ve tried anything other than the wildpeaks… but I am a big fan of how quiet they are on highway driving. Have you aired them down yet? That’s one thing I haven’t had to do yet but I’m sure this summer it will come up.
It is really an awesome set up and great quality. But I will warn it’s kind of heavy/bulky to be moving in and out if you’re traveling with your dog a lot. We have moved to a ramp set up for daily use. This step system will be our more permanent set up during camping.
I like the GM trucks but the thing that gives me pause is the Ford F 150 is rated at 9.8 inches of ground clearance with 23 degrees of approach angle. The GMC Sierra 1500 is rated at 8.1 ground clearance and 19 degrees approach angle. I plan on putting a 4 Wheel Camper on the truck I go with and going off road quite a bit, and the front of the truck looks like it would be having trouble dealing with off road conditions. I was wondering if you had thought this might be any problem for you. The front air dam looks like it could be the primary reason for the significant difference in the Ford and GMC.
Yes this was definitely something we took into consideration when purchasing. For sure the front end is a potential snag spot when going off road with it. We don’t plan to do anything too intense with the truck that would be a major concern. This being said there is a bumper replacement that will happen down the road on this build out. Right now there aren’t a ton of after market parts for this generation GMC. I am hoping if we prolong this portion of the build there will be more options. Skid plates under and a potential front lift/level is also on the table to help. So moral of the story is yes this is a point of concern for sure with the GMC over other trucks.
@sethrowsam Well, it is a nice-looking truck. I like the looks of the GMC trucks. I also think that GM has done a good job with the 2.7 turbo engine it wouldn't bother me at all going with that engine. I've seen RU-vid videos where people remove the front air dam on the Chevy and GMC trucks, and they say it improves the ground clearance by 2 or 3 inches up front. I could do that. I'm just not familiar with the after-market parts and shops and would prefer not to do too many modifications on a new truck. The back of the truck looks like it has plenty of clearance. What is the payload? Can it carry a camper.
Yeah the aesthetic of this truck definitely beat out all practicality of other truck options haha payload is somewhere north of 2000lbs if I’m remembering correctly. We have airbags put on the back suspension that add another 5000lbs. This was the pre camper prep work suggested by Main Line Overland who we are doing all our work through.
Not too sure on its reliability. It seems to be doing the trick so far. Don’t you worry. RU-vid will be the second to know if something starts acting up. First to know will be my mechanic. 😂
Yeah I did have to get a larger tire. It came with 275/60 and to get the AT4’s I had to go a little bigger to 275/65. No issues with rubbing with that small of a jump.
@@sethrowsam thanks for the info I see one at my GMC dealer and they had 305-55r20 bf Goodrich all terrain s but forgot to get the rim size I have the same rims as you nice job on your truck have fun with it they are great looking truck s
@@johnmcalisterjr3913nice. Always have loved the look of the all terrains on my trucks. Now I’m actually going to use them for fun besides in snow. Thank you! Can’t wait to keep building this thing. Enjoy your truck as well! Hope you’re having fun with it.
