Have to get new modem/router combo fast as I work from home. After researching it looks like the Netgear CAX 80 is the best for XFinity customers-Would you agree?
My parents go through Xfinity, not sure what modem and router we have but I know they are both older than 7 years, currently we get 80 download and 5 upload and it freaking sucks.
Hi thanks good review about the modems but The speed of modems is usually measured in megabits per second (Mbit/s), not megabytes per second (MB/s). One megabit is equal to 0.125 megabytes, so to convert from Mbit/s to MB/s, you need to divide by 8. For example, a modem with a speed of 100 Mbit/s can transfer 12.5 MB of data per second.
Saying megabyte instead of megabit, i wonder why people think their internet is slower than it is... all of these numbers needed devided by 8 for the average person to understand what it is in real world speeds.
I bought a refurbished Arris SVG2482AC off Ebay for $47. The item paid for itself in 3 months. Speedtest as good as the Xfinity rental. Make sure you call Xfinity to get a list of compatible modems for your particular plan.
hey bro we can talk by whatsapp or messages for a brief advice about wifi and infinity plans, I'm thinking of paying almost 127 USD, per month, for a new white modem, and 1200 mega, so go to youtube before making these changes I went to see several videos and I found yours and your combinations caught my attention, since I just bought the xbox series X and I want to have the best internet experience possible, right now I have the basic plan of 10 USD, it is about 50 MB/ 10 MB
I can barely understand your accent dude. Speak slower because your thick german accent makes us Americans difficult to understand what you are saying. And it’s even harder for us Americans who English is not their first language (hispanics). So please, speak slower and try to pronounce better every single word.
I am only using this for some streaming services like HULU AND FIRESTICK. I have a 600gb plan and was recently told that my current modem is not pushing my plans speed. I just want a basic one that will work on my wireless devices.
So I have the 1200 plan, I have my PC connected via Ethernet. I want that one too always have access to the lightning quick speeds, but I want as much range as possible even if at lower speeds. I want the signal to reach into a detached garage. Can I plug the PC directly into a modem and cheap out on the router?
Hey Titan. Yes, you could do that, but instead of connecting the PC to the modem, you should connect it with Ethernet to the router. Then you should be able to get a cheaper router and still get Wi-Fi in most of your home (depending on how big it is).
I don't know. Way to many stories about how your download is is far less then what you were getting. So last week tried 2 different modems. First looked into these modems and the stories on Xfinity and others places. I did notice those that were having problems with down and up not being the same were told its at your end you seem to have a leak so to speak. Sounded true to me lol. So I get 1200d 200u. More like 950d 230u. So I get a Motorola 8611 and activate fast and got 700d 5u. Well after switching back and forth and then calling I was told everything at Xfinitys end shows I am getting 1200d 200u and seems I have a leak at my house. So a tech was going to come out. I thought it must be the new modem so send it back and get Netgear nighthawk cm2000. Activated it and 700d 5up hmm what are the odds two different modems yet both with the same exact speed. What happens when I reactivate the XB8? 950d 230u. This was going back and forth with both. .,. made me wonder what happen to the leak? Then I get the same response others got? The last person I talked to at Xfinity granted they are not tech did say "it dose seem there is some kind of cap going on". When logging in to the modem the locked download (long number) was always about 700*************hz. Netgear people had no clue why this was happening. I could be wrong.. maybe the XB8 is so good at bypassing those "leaks" where as no other modem can do that. Its the going right back to XB8 and you get normal speeds.
Hey KP, we are the first and foremost an website and just started with RU-vid. Thus our subscribers are low. I can, however, ensure you that the information is correct.
Probably because most of us forget to hit the like button. I'm always guilty of that. So I never pay it any attention. Too bad this world seems to be dependent on likes for points.
just ordered : Motorola MB8611 DOCSIS 3.1 Multi-Gig Cable Modem | Pairs with Any WiFi Router | Approved for Comcast Xfinity, Cox Gigablast, Spectrum | 2.5 Gbps Port | 2500 Mbps Max Internet Speeds ty for this selection
@@slimatmim The modem paired with my router has been working fine however my internet speed goes down with time. I normally reboot the modem and router which resolves the speed issue instantly . As such I have not faced any issue with the modem yet.
@@kpsher367 Are you describing an issue with the new modem, or the old one? You said it paired with your router, however. you have to occasionally reboot, but then you said no issues. Personally, I've had modems for YEARS that I never have to reboot, so that sounds like an issue to me. So again, was it necessary to reboot the old modem or the new one?
