A collection of projects and DIY (mis)adventures surrounding our new home build and life on 100 acres in Northern Ontario! *UPDATE 2022* Well we sold our original house and are on a new property! A little smaller, but a lot of potential and really fun projects and land to explore.

We are a family of 8 with businesses and passions ranging from wedding and newborn photography to bike, ski and board sales, faith in Jesus, adoption, home renovations/flipping/building, homeschooling, software development, and a lot of other random projects.

I saw it bend a little bit. Is it actually safe and handy to use ?
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting 13 дней назад
It's strong enough yes, in that I don't think it would bend in half during use if the user is within the spec'd weight range. The concern is that it is attached to the walls properly, with enough force and blocking behind the walls (so you're not just pushing into drywall).

Does it leave scratches or marks on the walls or doors after taking it down!?
@AHomeforHosting

It wouldn't really leave scratches, but if left for a long time it seems that it WILL take some paint off with it when you remove it!

mine takes a few attempts to fully embed the nail in, and while its hammering a lot air is flowing out of it making my palm cold. Is the air normal? seems mine has an issue?

Hi, if I cover the side pads with paper towels, will it prevent the doorframe from being marked or damaging the paintwork? Will this attach to the doorframe if the pads are covered in paper towels?
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting 8 месяцев назад
It might work, but I would maybe put it above the trim so the bottom rests on it, or do several tests first before really pulling on it! I can't give you a full green light on that!

Seems like the bar still doesn't hold your 75kg properly despite you reduced the span? So is the thing isn't worth it?
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting 8 месяцев назад
We moved after this video and I installed it in another house (in a safer spot) and it worked well, but it did take a lot of paint with it when I moved it again! I would prefer a permanent one, but if you need to be able to remove it and the gap is shorter it's fine.

what is the lenght in cm on your first install on the top of stairs? and around what lenght is ideal for a sturdy hold.

@@AHomeforHosting Hello! I've got one just to hang from, (it arrived today), to stretch my body and spine for lower back pain. So I'd be barely off the floor. The width of the doorway is 28 inches. Is this bar sufficient for this width or do I have to stabilize it? I'm 71 and even though I'd be only about an inch off the floor, I don't want it to collapse on me. At the same time, I don't have the tools to stabilize it. What do you think? Thank you!
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting 3 месяца назад
@@selah71 your doorway width is close to the minimum width that the listing says it is good for, so the distance should not be a problem. Just make sure it is installed very firmly, and maybe have someone heavier than you give it a good test first! You may also have to re-adjust it from time to time, as the pressure will likely push out your door frame a bit over time. *not medical or legal advice!*

Why are you having to double up 2x6 studs that are in 12” centers? Seems overkill twice over.
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting Год назад
Actually they were 2x8 studs! I had to sister 2x6 studs to each one, making the gaps between them even smaller. It was a walkout basement backfilled almost right up to the top, which even the 2x8s couldn't handle (even though the plans, code, and inspector said they could). Expensive mistake, both time- and money-wise.

I have those exact chains and use them for plowing with my 3/4 ton on a private road with a hill about the same as yours. They work very well and after 3 years they're still holding up. I actually run them on studded tires which really won't get the job done once we're deep into winter on my gravel road.

Will this work on concrete walls?
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting 2 года назад
I would think so, especially if the concrete is rough vs. smooth. I added screws into mine after it came down on me though, just forewarning! But with rough concrete with no flex I'd think it'd be more secure.

So you didn't have any problems with the valspar? I was reading reviews on a website where one person said their sprayer quit working and the Graco rep suggested against using this as the thickness of the paint exceeds the limits of the devices pressure limits.
@AHomeforHosting
@AHomeforHosting 2 года назад
No, it seemed to work fine. This was the first 'job' I did with the sprayer and it's still going strong, although as a homeowner I'm not using it every day. We are building a new home starting in about 2 weeks, so we'll see if it can handle another whole-home job!
