Fypon is the recognized leader in polyurethane product design, innovation and molding technology. From old world style to classic modern design, Fypon offers the largest and most architecturally correct styles and designs of molding and trim, and now shutters and beams. Only Fypon engineers consistent quality and long lasting performance into every product we make, today and tomorrow. From our popular trim and moldings to our growing shutter and beam offerings, each product is manufactured by experts in polyurethane molding technology.
Our beams come primed and ready for stain or paint. As far as a lighter color, you can follow our finishing instructions, however, the color may not get to the lighter color you need. The color the beam is unfinished is the color that it comes out of the mold, then it gets 2 coats of primer. This will depend on how it's being installed. If flat trim is used around the doors to attach our products you shouldn't have to use shims. Here is the guide for installation: p.widencdn.net/utzf7c/16_Instructions_DoorSurround
Guy in video wasn’t wearing glasses when cutting or installing screws. Very irresponsible. Also did not follow instructions as he only put one screw in each end instead of the said 2? Maybe next time thoroughly review your instructional video before posting!!?
Hi Kristian, We recommend using a brush to achieve the wood stained look as this method has been tested and proven to work in our facilities. We have not tested a sprayer and cannot guarantee the results. Hope this helps.
For a substitute as far as cleaning, denatured alcohol can be used. As a solvent we don't think this would work. If you would like to speak with a Customer Care team member about your specific project, please give us a call at 1.800.446.3040.
I just bought some, thinking about returning because I am afraid it will get dented in very easily. I was looking for more information on how delicate it is
Hi Melanie, Our polyurethane parts are similar to white pine wood in strength so if something should hit into a part with some force it can cause a dent. You can repair minor surface damage using a variety of polyurethane compatible adhesives, sealants, and fillers. Sand repaired area, prime, and paint to finish. If you would like to speak with a Customer Care representative, they can answer any questions you have. The number is 1.800.446.3040.
I would like to see a video of you installing this Fypon Door Surround on a brick house front door that has a entrance door and storm full view door installed. Thank you
Adhesive must be applied in addition to screws to assure that the product adheres. If not, the screws may not hold the material alone and it could void the warranty. While our product is not maintenance free, there is limited maintenance so no worries on having to remove the product. Touch ups may be required about every 5-6 years based on most customer’s feedback if installed according to our guidelines. If you have any questions, our customer service team would be happy to help at 1-800-446-3040.
Wow. Did you install it yourself? If so, can you shed some knowledge-experience? I have looked everywhere online on how to install garage crosshead and can not find it anywhere. Had two subs look at doing it and never got back with me. I am mechanically inclined but really need some directions on how to proceed. Currently have 'standard brick wood molding' on there now all the way around. Thank you. Joe

I agree with wildcard, I'm putting it around my front door and there is vinyl siding on the house so you have that gap between the siding and the flush part of the installation strips. Also how thick should the installation strips be?
Thank you for your question about our Fypon door surround. In the video, we show using a 1x4 which would be ¾” thick. This would be typical for most vinyl siding applications.
The gap between the product and the wall surface looks really bad. You could see the crosshead leaning back as it was fastened too. In a really narrow entryway it's possible that could avoid notice, but above a window or door with views from the side, it's going to look terrible. For new construction, the installation strips could always be sized to the width of the product, so siding can be terminated flush. But for renovations, do you have a product that can close that gap? Or at least conceal PVC shims that could provide solid backing?
