Just a normal guy from the north-west of England, with a child-like desire to explore this beautiful planet with my camera. Share my photographical adventures with me.
It’s a good one, but mine mk3 have lens stuck issue after 3 years of light use. I don’t know the latest one fix this issue or not. For me, photography is not an issue for it, durability is.
Henry, buddy. Don't thank us. Your adventures and your photographybisnwhybwe watch. We should thank you for all the journeys and hikes. Always watch!!!
So glad you raise the issue about image quality, because it's so much better today but we spend less energy on the emotional feel of a photograph. The lighting, color and emotion is so much more important than resolution
Excellent video about how not to forget things and how to make the best of the situation. And well done with the acting, I never suspected that you did it on purpose. That must have taken loads of planning and many takes. 😅😂😂😂😂
My back yard Henry. Have been round those hills at least two hundred times since moving to Shap 3 years ago. Know it very very well and as a local, I can tell you, it pisses down most days!
Ha ha ha dont worry i did the same not that long ago😊 carried all my stuff up a Munro only to have left all my batteries in the house and i always lose some thing 🙃 like my glasses put them down and forget to pick them up again 😑 left a set of k&f filters at the s bends in glencoe went back but never found them 😀 but now try and make sure i pick every thing up 😂😂
I remember going to see the exposed village of Mardale during the drought of 1984, long queue of cars along the valley. The same time the water company ran water via large pipes from Windermere (along the A592) to re route it via the river systems to supply Manchester.
That looks an exciting way up High Street. I've done it a few times from Kentmere and Brothers Water but that looks a very pleasant ridge walk. (71, two artificial knees and still climbing, when I'm not kayaking).
This is why I have multiple batteries, so there’s always one charged in the camera. Never mind Henry, it’s not the end of the world. Add another Wainwright to the list. 68/214 🇦🇺
Little trick I use to ensure fully charged battery, leave the battery door open and unlatch whenever battery is placed on charger. You live in an amazing landscape heaven and do an amazing job capturing it for us to enjoy.
Having done the same once before, I then used a tip another snapper gave me: When you take the battery out to charge, never shut the battery door on your camera until you've put a charged battery back in. Same goes for SD cards. That way, you know when you put the camera in the bag that if the door is open, you need a battery. Works for me.
As soon as you said you forgot something important I was thinking batteries or memory card. Personally I did it when I went to Dovedale in the Peak District. You still got some beauties though Henry!
Batteries, OOPS!! I always charge my batteries up as soon as I get back, and I always have a fully charged one left in my camera. Simple, but avoids that problem. Lovely images, and I really liked the drone shot. Out of interest, do you use any filters on your drone? I now have a mini 4 pro, and normally have a polariser on. My drone images are not great yet, but are improving, as are my piloting skills. Have a great weekend.
Love your videos! It felt like I was on that hike with you. I forgot my batteries on a hike one time, and I won't forget that awful feeling. I'm not trying to weigh you down but being that you're up there by yourself and it's quite remote, you might consider taking a satellite phone as a backup communications device, or maybe another person and a satellite phone. First aid stuff too.
Tip people's... I have a checklist that actually 6 inside my bag.And it's just one that I can use with a whiteboard marker. It's just a piece of paper That has been laminated... I'm basically it has everything from lenses camera batteries.Sd card tripod on the list. Before I leave for a big sheet I take everything on the list. It. Takes a couple of minutes to check. Check list on a laminated cars. Try some mindfulness...slow down. It does come with age too. I used to rush not now!
@@HenryTurnerphoto it's so easy to do and once you've got that checklist process in your bag you will never forget anything again in terms of the mindfulness. I do it in my day job lot so it transcends into my Photography.
I’m not a professional photographer, so the pressure isn’t as much on me. But I always found the best pictures I took were the snap ones that captured the energy and emotion of something and weren’t technically the best (although we all try our best for that). I always remember borrowing Chase Jarvis’s book “The best camera is the one that’s with you”.
Great vid of a truly classic route up a classic fell👍🏻. Boots wise, have you had a look at the Keen range? They are known to have a wider fit. Keep up the great adventures H😁
I got your recent newsletter, lamented the short notice on the workshop - I'm in the US - and then had an attack of common sense as I remembered my 65 year old knees cannot handle mountain-goating all over challenging terrain the way you do. Wishing you a sold out attendance and all success.
I will have to disagree about those graduated filters. Sure, you can darken the sky in lightroom, but if your sky is already hopelessly overexposed, there isn't much left to darken, all you'll get is a grey mess. These filters do have a purpose, and it's not for effects, but for keeping a bright sky within the limits of your cameras dynamic range.
Hey Henry.. I feel for ya Mate. I went to a Cowboy Rodeo Event here in th estates and had my Camera and Batteries.. but grabbed my backup Canon R6II and discovered the batteries were not Charged. I said no worries I have extra batteries but then discovered they were Dead. I was only able to photograph 1/3 the event. and I was done. As I left my Charger at home UGGGGH. I later bought spare charger to keep in bag.
Hi Henry, I've spent many happy hours watching you hike around gorgeous countryside, jealous because my knees might not be up to it now. Love your landscape shots and the info that you give. Can I please ask 1 little thing, can you say occasionally how long the total hike is. Keep up the excellent work and stay safe.
Another fantastic video Henry. I usually have the batteries but sometimes almost out of charge. I think people underestimate the power of the mobile phone camera . Keep up the great Wainwright series you are creating
Weve all been there Henry, trecked up top of a hiil, got all set up and composed a shot on tripod, and then camera says "memory card full" . You got some belters with the mobile and drone so all was not lost Looked a cracking days hike, thanks for sharing yet again.
Top drawer hike Henry mate. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the ascent and it's stunning panoramic views. Would love to have half your energy to tackle some of the Lake District peaks. Ps Did you ever stop and wonder how long it must have taken them to build all those miles upon miles of dry stone walls. Look forward to more videos like this one and get a pack list made so you can tick off everything required for your trip so you don't forget things like batteries. 🏴🥃
Hi Henry. Just want to say thank you for bringing the lake district to my screen, I could not walk those hills but you bring them to us to enjoy. In your own words they are "top drawer" 👌🙂
You need a checklist for gear. 😊. Wonder if Blea Tarn was created when a comet rock crashed. Those trails must be a thousand or more years old. A Roman road - makes sense.
