It's not inflation it's just corporate greed. Multiple giant corporations had their highest profits within these 2+ years. They are price gouging and saying it's inflation.
That is not true at all.....I work in a grocery business and I see the costs trickle down, even our store owner who has 10 grocery stores has much higher costs...
@@hawks7775 that could be the case for that store owner but when you have so much leverage and buying power of hundreds and thousands of stores under your company it's different. Listen to past earning calls and you'll see otherwise. The big players are over all hurting the smaller businesses.
Got into trade school to be a mechanic at 18. Since graduating I’ve been an ase certified master tech, a hotel building maintenance guy, an HVAC repairman, an appliance repair man and a crane mechanic. Wanna guess which one paid the least?
Never understood the thing that some bosses wanted you to bring your own tools, like shure if you pay me enough to buy my own tools i would but i can't afford a second hand hammer on this pay
It’s crazy man. But tools weren’t always that expensive of course. When we were in the automotive field, we both had a floating credit balance of 8-10k just to do the job lol.
Yep! I was in this for 10 years. There’s no money in this field. I was making $24k a year. Started truck driving over the road, suck but had to get the experience. Make $40k. Went to driving local driving ready mix concrete. Been at the same place for 15 years I make $90k a year. Everything is paid off. I’ll never go back to auto mechanics agin.
Love to see that you didn’t give up, it’s easy to just work the same job because it’s comfortable or familiar. Even better that it worked out for you. Plus you don’t need a mechanic to work on your on car now! 🤘🏼
Well not sure where you pulled wrenches but I'm an auto tech and made 92k last year hourly. Plus pension and stock options. You just gotta find a good company that wants to invest in you. Stay away from dealerships and small shops cause they can't pay what huge companies can
Absolutely true! Both dealer and mom n pop style. But just like any job or industry you have more bad bosses than good bosses. Owning and operating a business can be hard, and those people are just people too and we all make mistakes. The hard part as you said is finding that “good place” and I think pound for pound, auto industry is one that more commonly pays less.
I have you beat, I’d pay the customer to work on their car, I’d buy parts and all. Most I spent on an unpaid job was a few years back, I did a detail for throtl and they never paid me and I spent $300 for materials 🤣
Yep. The pay is ass. I try to stick with it cuz i love cards and helping folks but something has got to give. Why are sales and service writers making more than techs?
That’s a great question, we’ll try to bring this up on the next podcast! But I think it’s that way in any job you look at. I guest if sales/service writes are financially motivated they won’t sell work.
There's a cool story behind the name Monkey Shoulder. Back when they used to mix the mash by hand and shovel the barley, they would end up with strained shoulders that would hang down like a monkey's arm, hence the name.
Yeah those rides start around 50 grand and only go up from there. Had a buddy get bent diving, they took him on a low altitude life flight to the nearest chamber. Two weeks in hyperbaric chamber were cheaper than the 200k low altitude flight
Then they wonder who no one wants to get into those fields what’s the point if I’ll lose my certification for a couple mistakes that will never cause anybody problems point being the trans Alaskan pipe line you’re telling me in the 50s they x-rayed those welds and remember in the 50s they would have a 6 pack for breakfast and a 6 pack for lunch now I get a tiny little crack and I lose my livelihood no thanks
Hi man, Love your topic by the way, do you know someone who is a Podcaster? You see... I`m taking my skills in a new direction and planning to help Podcaster fascinate their RU-vid Shorts and Instagram Reels videos and retain viewers in their social media. So I was wondering if you know someone who could use my help just like I did to Café Con Podcast and Fast Break Podcast. Thank you have a good day! 0:23
