Awesome video! Good job. I also stayed at Barcelo Maya Resort and really loved snorkeling there. Here is my video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8RAucfVRcMA.html
I give y'all props.. You guys are really brave.. I'm the type of MF that panics and sees my life flash before my eyes when seaweed brushes against my leg
Under the pier I saw a school of black fish instead of the ones in the video, I don’t know the name of that fish we saw but there were thousands packed together just floating there. Saw the turtles and many other fish including what I thought was a barracuda. It was my first time snorkeling an I can say it was incredible to see that much marine life so close to the shore, is that common or is this beach somewhat unique?
The pier is one of the most common places where you can see a lot of fish. I believe they love the shade and food source that is usually found around the pier. I also have a video of my snorkeling under the pier ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oqFYOYVN5jc.html
I was looking for a resort in this area that had good snorkeling because that’s my number one goal in booking a resort. Thank you so much for doing this video, it was great to be able to see the abundance of fish, coral and turtles!
I was there 22 years ago - ugh! Probably same spot. The male crew was loved by a ray named "Lucy" Ms G got too close to the guys for Lucy's liking and she whipped her tail and the barbs slapped G's knee. She had the scars for a good 7 years - oh and yes, it hurt like massive bee attack. Thanks Lucy!
Salut, à 1:10 dans ta vidéo, étiez-vous au Barcelo ou dans une activité à l'extérieur du resort? Merci pour la vidéo, super belles images et bonne chanson!
Agreed. A mile of beach at this resort, and the very best snorkeling is at the northern-most 200 yds or so. I can't wait to go back!! And holy cow, you captured some amazing footage! Thanks for sharing!!
Id love to use some of this footage in a video I'm putting together to show the difference in experience, yours is what I wanted, and will now go to the Cayman Islands for. Can I reach you on IG or email to talk licensing/cost? Thank you and great shots and channel. Take a look at my travel series im working on when you have a moment, im just starting and only have a few videos at the moment, but im woking on it. Thank you
I make my videos for fun and you can use it for free. If you don't mind, just put a link to my channel and reference that you used some of my footage. Thanks for the kind words. Good luck with your channel.
@@romanayz1558 Thank you!!! I appreciate it, I booked my trip and will be there in a few weeks to experience it myself. I hope they let me fly my drone off the boat while I'm there.
This is beautiful ! I always loved these animals. But how is it ok and safe to be in the water with them ? Because I thought the stingers can pierce you and be poisonous?
Christina Mancuso they remove the stingers and make them safe for visitors. they also microchip every single stingray in the reef since they are so valuable to the island
Not true that they remove the barbs, I was just there. In this video, the guide holds the tail and is showing the barb. These still are wild whiptail stingrays. It just shows how uninformed we are about them and just how freak of an incident it was with Steve Irwin. These are the exact same as the one that took his life.
stingrays use their stinger solely for defense. Their stingers have a non-lethal venom that when injected causes severe pain but not death. It's perfectly safe to be in the water with a stingray as long as you are not a threat to it (aka. jumping on top of it like unfortunately Steve Irwin did) or grabbing it or stepping on it. While these are wild rays (with their stingers still attached), they are clearly very accustomed to human interaction and seem to be fine with being touched and held.
sara chen yes totally safe, their stingers are a one time thing (like a bee) so they don’t sting unless they’re mortally threatened. For as long as Stingray City has existed, they’re hasn’t been a “Steve Irwin” incident here
Were trying to plan our excursions and I’m so scared to do this bc of Steve Irwin. Is it safe? My 10 year old daughter is doing it too so I worry. Is there a guide next to you the whole time?
Dimples 80 it’s not very dangerous at all. If things like that happened all the time they wouldn’t be able to have this as an option since it would be too dangerous for regular people to do. And just to make you feel even MORE safe, the DISNEY cruises have this as an excursion, and that’s a place where they know lots of little kids will be.
what kind of fish are those larger ones? i was there in december 2018 and some of them were nipping us. no hard bites but it does startle you. fingers and toes and once on the back. i felt like catching a few and putting them in the dolphin tank.
Unfortunately, it is not a public beach. This is right off shore from the Barcelo Maya Palace Resort beach, so you need to access from inside of the resort. If you would like you can check my other video from Barcelo Maya.
