Hi Jennie, what a scary experience for you all. Glad she is OK. Water safety with little ones is difficult - we did a similar pool / villa holiday last year and I remember the constant challenge of attempting to have my eyes on all 3 children at all times. A similar thing happened to my sister when she was the same sort of age as Elouise. My mum was momentarily distracted watching my swimming, when my sister decided to walk into the big pool without her armbands. She was motionless when we spotted her and it is one of my most vivid childhood memories - thankfully all was fine in the end, she came round & chocked up a load of water at the poolside. but when I think about how it was just my mum and her 2 young children alone at the pool in that situation (in the days before mobile phones too!), I now know as an adult & a parent how much that would have affected my mum. I think this also happened at the end of our holiday and my sister was obviously feeling much more pool confident xx
It's amazing how quickly things like this can happen. I can't imagine how awful that must have been for your mum (and you). How was your sister afterwards (emotionally speaking)? Eloise is definitely a child that needs to be watched a bit more closely. She's a daredevil and desperate to do all the things older kids can do. Just today she was furious to learn that Rufus can whistle and she can't yet.
Ooooh yes! The school run has been particularly challenging as I am particularly gassy first thing in the morning. Saying hello to all the parents and then dashing off so as to not be caught out.
Just a heads up on the withdrawing your child from clergy led worship; the school my sons attended would sometimes 'forget' or think it didn't apply some weeks. However, as a result other parents became aware they had a choice and soon there was a little group of them that would play a game or help teaching assistants prepare things during these services. I got fed up with being a thorn in their side but a large part parenting is nagging someone and for our beliefs it was worth it. Good luck.
Thanks. I'm very aware that I'm annoying the hell out of the Head but I just feel my beliefs are as important as any religious person so I really want to fight for them. Hopefully it'll actually work. Fingers crossed xx

Thanks for this today. I find it hard not to disappear down a hole of self-flagellation when thinking about these issues (mistakenly thought my youngest was female for nearly 14years). Btw they sometimes look over my shoulder and see your posts and we all think you seem to be doing a stand up job of parenting, make sure you apply the being human rule to yourself as well.
