I performed this musical with my school (still there!) as a part of the ensemble, but I grew an emotional connection to this song and cried every time our Beast, Charlie, sung this as this is such an incredible song. Overall, this was a great musical and helped me find my place within the school. This was the highlight and I'm soooo happy to see it on Tuesday!
Josh I adore this song. But attention all Grobanites out there. I just got catfished by a claim that he was the real Josh. When I couldn’t manage to sign onto Signal private chat line he asked for my phone number which I foolishly gave to him. I finally figured it was a hoax when I asked him a question about which girlfriend he wrote So she Dances for and he kept asking why I was asking, said I obviously had trust issues. I finally told him to fuck off and reported to the police the phone number attached to his phone number I got through his texted. Told him I felt sorry for him and I hope he gets caught. So don’t let anyone fool you! Protect your identity! I’m so sorry Josh. I’m sure this crap happens you all the time but that’s the danger of social media. Take care of yourself and I will always love and support you ❤️
Love is a lost illusion. Yeah that true. 3 years ago I lost he walked out my soul mate. His friend been there for me, mutual agreement we agree to marry and he already adopted my kids. I have twin 4 year Olds and a 2 year old now. I love Joe now. We connect. Joe doesn't mind the fact I got damaged on my job and can't walk. Or the fact that my throat got cut and I can't sing anymore. I can still write beautiful words and he doesn't think I'm trash but a miracle from God that I'm still alive. The rumors of my death are false.
What I love about this song is that it subtlely shows that he IS in fact falling in love with her. It’s the impact she is slowly making on him that enables him to have this introspection in the first place.
Please note: I like this song, sort of, certainly it is beautifully performed, but it is so musical theatre, and guilty of the trap of just annoucing how the character feels. It does nothing to progress the story beyond a grand proclamation of Beast's love - completely unnecessary. But since I like the song I spent the time to write the parody below to explain my feelings about it. This is the first verse of the song So I’ll recap things just for you I never needed anybody in my life I guess that that will do And now we’re in the second verse I should explain how I have changed In case you did not watch the first two acts I’m clearly not the same Now at last we’re in the chorus I’ll tell you how I feel today Give you a long list of strng emotions Then say “Come what may” Wasting in my lonely tower And other cheesy metaphors Let’s fit in one more stage show trope And use the word “forevermore” Though I have said all that I need Another verse we had to pen This song is going to need some sort of crescendo Another chorus then? So we’re back into the chorus A very slightly different one Explain a little more about my feelings Once more, then we’re done Wasting in my lonely tower I’ll try to subtly clear my throat I’m going to put it under strain Because these songs are all the same They’ll put in just one more refrain And end on a long noooooooooooooooote.

Josh should've sang this song after the West Wing scene in Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration last year. It would've been amazing to hear him sing that live
Totally agree.... however, I understand why Disney had Josh Groban sing "Evermore". It is his "Beauty and the Beast" song. They clearly wanted audiences to know it is actually a decent song. Since, it sounds terrible in the remake, due to Dan Stevens being tone deaf.
@@jonathanbaileyartanimation2992 - Omg, it is so true and she is the worst part of that movie. To this day, I will never understand why Emma Watson and Dan Stevens were cast. Neither of them are good actors, and both are completely tone deaf. Josh Groban should have been the Beast, and an up-and-coming Broadway actress should have been Belle.

As of the 30th anniversary special, this song is now officially part of the original movie's canon. Now I wonder why Disney hasn't implemented this song into the Broadway musical? Like, imagine if there was a recording of the Broadway musical that had both "If I Can't Love Her" and "Evermore" in the same show, would that deepen The Beast's character even further than the Broadway musical already has?
The musical shut down back in 2007, long before the film came out. But, if it ever were to get a revival, I'd love to see "Evermore" implemented in. It's been revived on the West End in England, but I don't know if "Evermore" is present in that version.
