WOW! I hiked around convict lake before all that tourist crap was there. Everything is being over run. June lake was beautiful as well, before it got totally commercialized. I want to cry seeing it today. Nothing can stay unspoiled if there is money to be made. If I recall correctly, you cannot even use hot creek any more because a few drunk idiots spoiled it for the rest of us. But there are others that most people don't know about. If you are ever out there, DO go see the "Devil's Post Pile". Quite amazing!
In the 1970's when I was in 4th and 5th grade my dad took me to Convict lake about this time of year when school started. I would miss the first few days of school. Not many people were there because school had started. He would rent a trailer and have it dropped off at a spot . One year my brother and I hiked to the back of the lake where the creek feeds into the lake and caught our limit in no time. Another time I caught a brownie in the creek where the trailers park. Thanks for brining back some great memories.

What are your summer tires? I run Michelin M+S on my Tundra and they are awesome in the rain, great traction and work well when we do get snow in nashville, we dont get alot of snow but what we do get, freezes overnight and becomes ice, and that is when I start pulling my neighbors up to the top of the subdivision so they can go to work. I also act as "Sled Lift Operator" as I take the kids from the bottom main street hill and then back to the top
In Alberta we are celebrating a good spring soak, with multiple rounds of snow and now rain with alpine snow. We are one step below state of drought emergency so for us it is joyful.
That was crazy, there was no sign of snow by 11:30am from 395 to Schatt's bakery on Monday morning when I stopped there, I completely forgot it happened.
In my area, it seems things are happening about a month later than what was normal so the season ends about a month later and I think it is going to stay that way. The calendar will be off from now on unless they correct it.
