Thank you for this information. I enjoy my watches, some with box and papers and some without. I buy the watch I like to enjoy as a beautiful timepiece. If it comes with the box and papers then it only adds to overall enjoyment of my purchase. I buy the watch on its own merit. The box and papers are merely an added bonus if available.
I’m not sure if he’s describing it correctly or not as I don’t speak Dutch but that watch shouldn’t be considered a “grail 6542” as most of what you see is not original 1950s Rolex made parts. The dial should be glossy with gilt text. The fact it has white text means it was made after 1966. The original dial would have said “Swiss” at the bottom (like this example) but beginning in 1964 through 1999 the dials said “T<25 Swiss” indicating Tritium Lume. So, that should mean the dial in that watch was made after 1999. The Bakelite bezel is also not original. Notice the small tabs on the outer bezel ring every four minutes. Those tabs are indicative of a service bezel and the plastic insert itself is not the same color as original examples. The blue is much too vivid and should be true navy blue, almost black, while the red should be a darker maroon color. Also, the outer bezel has no wear to its chrome plating while the soft plastic insert has not a single scratch indicating the whole thing is a service part in brand new condition. The fact that the numbers on the bezel insert are yellow to look like they are aged must just be intentionally tinted lume. One simple test would be to use a Geiger counter to check how radio active the watch is. An original with Radium on the dial, hands, and bezel should be very radioactive. I would bet that there is no Radium on this watch and all the lume is either Tritium or, most likely, Super Luminova that is tinted yellow to look old. As you can see this watch should not be held in high regard as a “grail” example of a vintage GMT.
We need to stop criminals like ziarex from selling mega-clone replica watches because selling mega-clone replicas with the same serial number as the original watch is illegal.
I hate it when people buy replicas, thinking they are original, and end up losing their money. Thats why mega-clone sellers like ziarex need to be stopped.
I found out that for five years, I was wearing a fake Submariner, but I paid for a real one. Apparently, the company ziarex makes those mega clones. I tried to find my dealer, but he is gone. I did research, and they have a whole section of watches. They
