Why didn't you stop and show the views!! You were on a veranda with beautiful view of mountains in Autumn and all you showed was not much. You kind of missed the point of the beautiful place you were at.
Mt wife and I stayed there for a few days last June. It is a beautiful resort and worth the time and price to stay there, great food, lots to see and a nice golf course. Lots of hiking opportunities and fishing in that area. The presidential wing has a terrific fire place and sitting area. We enjoyed our stay, highly recommended.
The Mount Washington has every luxury one would want. Yes you can sit on the deck and have a drink even if you do not stay there and eat there. I am from NH (down the street) and this spot is also said to have some haunted activity. The Speak Easy was legendary, well known attendees. One of the most friendly ski areas is down the street, Bretton Woods. Short trip from North Conway, Conway, Bethlehem, Portsmouth, Manchester, Canada and Boston....depending on what is a short trip to you.
Sorry but you really didn't do the hotel justice. Next time you plan a "tour" stop at the concierge and ask "what are the high points not to be missed.? The "Presidential Wing" is a new addition for meetings and conferences. The grand dining room is to the left of the front desk. You stopped before entering. That was the ballroom to the right. The "men's back room" is a night club for guests at night, which used to be a speak easy. The highlight of the back porch, either level, is the amazing view of Mount Washington. The golf course is for summer. In winter you can take a dog sled ride.
Mt Snowdon England - Steepest cog railway in the world When engineer Eduard Locher proposed building a railway on Mount Pilatus in the 19th century, many though he had gone mad. But in 1889 the 4,618-meter-long railway opened from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm. With a gradient of 48% it is the steepest cogwheel railway in the world.
