My brother, you have got that bird locked in!! God Bless you!! That was the greasiest landing the RC hobby I have ever seen!! Many great flight you you Sir!! God Bless!! Love your videos!😊
I built some wood covers that fit over the metal blocks that came with the kit. Its basically two halves that i cut out the shape of the block and they glued them together and shaped them. I used some left over mahogany that came with the kit. I need to build a couple more of them someday.
Never, EVER let the boom or yard go past 90 degrees to the beam on a run! You’ll absolutely broach for sure. That’s the most dangerous point of sail on a balanced lug, and the most common mistake…after not reefing when you should. And whitecaps start at about 10-12 knots of wind, you were no where near 20 knots, even in gusts. Looks more like 6-8 knots…
Good maiden flight Tim. Excellent landing. Got the Tigercat a couple weeks ago. I’ve had success with the Flightline 1600mm P-38, Corsair and Spitfire, so I thought the Tigercat would be a great addition. And I was right. 4 flights on Maiden Day. Every bit as much fun as the P-38, every bit as stable and predictable. I’m not very smart, but if I can figure out how to make the P-38 and the Tigercat 6s, it’ll be a perfect world. (Some have said “Buy the FMS Tigercat motors and esc’s)
That was about normal for this plane. I was using 1/2 flaps and there was zero wind. It has relatively high wing loading so you need to keep the speed up or it will stall.
@@timkwasny3967 Oh yeah, just checked the manual. It has a higher wing load than their B24. I was thinking with two motors and only one battery it would have less wing load. Guess I was wrong. lol
I fly it with a pair of 4cell 3000mah batteries. You could fly it with a single 5000mah if you make a adaptor. Its really a great plane. Its my favorite twin motor plane and is pretty easy to land. I set the throttle at about 25% when I turn into the base leg and then just fly it on down. Flair it about a foot off the ground and it settles in.
i was experimenting with a heavy 5000mah battery. It flies good with the 5000 but I think my Roaring Top 4500 are the sweet spot between performance and flight time.. I set CG by doing the tip test.
The 6 cell makes the Tiger Moth have a Higher Wing Load. That’s why you have to come in slightly faster. The 4 Cell will have a Lower Wing Loading so u can come slower. Same with the 5 Cell, but a little different wing loading.
I ❤️ the Tiger Moth. I just got through flying it on Microsoft Flight ✈️ Simulator Steam PC. There’s a new 2020 Microsoft Flight Simulator coming out for the PC and the New Xbox Series. The Graphics are off the chain. The Sim look true to life. Buy u a good Flight Stick(Thrustmaster)
I tried it on 4cell but there wasn't enough power with my motor / prop combo. I will probably try a different motor at some point. Anything you can do to keep the weight down will really help this one. My all up weight is in the 7.5 -8 pound range which is a bit much for this one. I had to modify the firewall to push the battery forward as much as possible and still add about 6zo of lead to the nose to get the forward CG called out in the book. It flies good but not great.
Do you have elevator control at low speeds, specially when landing? I have version 1 at 110 percent elevator travel and lose elevator control when landing.
I am set up by the book on throws and usually fly at mid or low rates. The CG in the book is very nose heavy. You can move it back quite a bit. Most people balance this plane doing the tip test. Set the plane on the main gear with the tail touching the ground and then let go of the nose it should slowly fall back on to the nose. Move the battery back until it falls very slow. Experiment with it and see what feels good to you.
I have a version one and feel it’s a wee bit underpowered. Yours still has that cool whoosh sound to me. You like the power? What battery were you using? Thanks
nice flight maiden flight, congrats, but i would have expected a bit more data to be honest, are the throws ok and according to manual, what kind of lipo did you use, or what was you Cog and such...i think that would have made it an even better video you know, anyway nice work, cheers
Sorry, I didn't really expect anyone to watch this. I just upload these to get them off my computer. To answer your question I set it up by the manual for throws and CG. I didn't add any trim during the flight. I flew most of the flight in low rates and will probably use they low rates as my high rates from now on. In later flights I moved the CG back a little (aprox 1cm) which helped it rotate better on take off. I flew it on both 5000 and 4500 batteries with not much difference in performance.
I got it from MotionRC on their scratch and dent page, but I assume it was the latest version. The only thing wrong was the nose art was on upside down. I was planning on a total repaint anyway. I have not had great luck with Dynam's electronics in the past so I also replaced the ESC's right out of the box and moved them to the underwing radiator location for max cooling. I also had a alerion servo that went bad after a few flights. Other than that it has been a good flying plane.
