I have had the pleasure of trying pretty much all the expensive alcohol money can buy, and realistically I can say that it stops being worth it at around 500$ a Bottle (any type of alcohol) .. if you go beyond that you must fully and truly understand what you are drinking and I believe a big reason why those 5-50k bottles are better is because you know the price and rarity. That being said, I do believe that the Louis XIII is one of the best Cognac's on the Market.. Here's a list I made while going through my collection and recalling things I have tried in the past that struck an emotion in me. Stupid Value : Hennessy Edition Particuliere, Martell Premier Voyage, Frapin Cuvee Rabelais (Buy when you don't understand the concept of money anymore) Mid Value : Prunier 1968 Fins Bois (cask strenght watch out), Delamain Très Vénérable Cognac, Gautier Extra 1755 Cognac (buy If you know your shit) Acceptable Value : Delamain XXO Hors d'Age, Hennessy XO, Hine Homage Grand Cru (even if you are an avid water enthusiast, these will be good) Bank account is happy Value : Hennessy VSOP, Hine Rare VSOP Fine Champagne, Pierre Ferrand 10 Generations (I mean, it's cognac)
I've been dying to try some louie. I am a big cognac drinker but this review makes me think it's just not worth it. I've lost the urge. Right now my favorite XO is D'ussey I doubt this one is $3,000 better
You really know what vineyards are thinking about Chinese and coloured People here? If you knew it you wouldn't waste your money...I'm not kidding. They're unfriendly and racists for most of them.
No way, i'm ever gonna buy such an expensive bottle. The 1738 is my cognac drink for years now, always tastes good, sometimes a would buy a hennessy xo if i come across one for around 160 buck, but those two are my all time favorite.
I tried some XIII and was just blown away by how good it was. Price point is terrible but it is what it is. Appreciate the honesty. Presentation 10/10 Taste 10/10 Price 0/10 lol
If you buy shots of this it would be $300-400 a shot!! You should of looked at a video on how to drink! You do not chug this. It’s a sipping drink. You pour, air it, sniff it, then take a small taste, swift it around and then starts sipping it but never chug. Anything quality you did not chug whether whiskey, tequila, etc. I bought a ounce bottle for $660! I had before in high end restaurants. You should never regret the experience!
I have actually got to taste this; I was bought a bottle of The Drop (£160). Honestly, I was disappointed; not worth the money. My favourite is Hennessy Paradis.
Great honest review I love cognac and unfortunately just can’t afford a bottle of this and I’ve always wanted to try it , love the Remy Martin XO love it !! I’m English and in England on Amazon a 35ML bottle of Remy XO is usually £70 (pounds) I think today’s exchange rate is $1.2 US 🇺🇸 to £1 GBP 🇬🇧 so £70 is only maybe $80 if that . I just work a regular job as a Fork lift driver and my salary is only £15-17 per hour I guess I could buy a bottle throughout the year and it would leave me very short for my rent on a 2 bedroom apartment in Liverpool is £650 per month and it’s a nice apartment. I’d be short for groceries and as one of you guys said 3 grand is a hell of a lot of money for just the regular working class guy or gal you could get a used car , have a nice holiday abroad , get a top of the range OLED tv . Clothes etc etc … I can afford the XO and that is not like all the time I like the 1738 and that is £49.99 here in Tesco which is the UK’s biggest supermarket chain . Like your guys Walmart we have Asda the second largest and Walmart own Asda they have roll back and the always low prices slogan 😅 you can tell it is Walmart they are cheaper than Tesco usually and in the U.K. the sales tax VAT is already added to everything so the price on the shelf is the price you pay . The Hennessy was on sale yesterday for £39 and I the Remy Martin original was £43 . It was great seeing you open and taste it and show the packaging and just be down to earth about the reality of it , well done guys very humble and great talking points , I watched a video of some master distiller some French guy who makes this stuff doing a review and it was way way over the top pretentious like if you had been touched by god just drinking this Cognac I liked the realism of this and Cognac is my drink of choice I usually have it on the rocks and I’ll usually have the VSOP the VS or the XO in my cabinet. Tesco actually do their own version of XO and it’s the Finest brand which is their signature branded generic branding for the most expensive items throughout the store like Tesco Finest Fillet steak or Tesco Finest ice cream or Tesco Finest cooked meats etc etc . They had a bottle of cognac that was just Tesco value Cognac £14 😣 it’s not good , their own brand XO is £37 and it is a lovely drop well worth the price a massive 10/10 for value . The Remy Martin XO was £68 just checked online they have the 35 ml bottle for that and the 700ml bottle is £135 . Expensive still but it is so moreish 😂 I don’t mind the Martell V.S either . I enjoyed this review it was exactly what I needed to see , down to earth and you two guys were just keeping it real . I like scotch too usually single malt and the 15 year old Glenfiddich is under £40 and good value , I remember buying the Johnnie Walker blue label scotch and it costing £170 😮 and although it was very nice and presentation was second to none it was just not not worth it I’m afraid , this Louis XIII is the favourite drink of Jay-Z and was enjoyed by Napoleon 😂 👍
One... you poured way too little in your glass to experience the full flavor., 2... the first 2 sips helps opens up the congac flavor, you should be picking up notes of cider, followed by a sweet taste (cider) then a nice soft vanilla bean flavor/aroma that finishes off with a light spicey taste. Pour 3x more than what you poured in your glass, trust me... your experience will be much more pleasing/different. I also recommend drinking it with a good Maduro cigar, e.g. like a Gurkha Maduro, a Montecito Oscuro. If Maduros are to bold then then I recommend hoing with a Dark Connecticut wrap from Romeo y Julieta line. I love a good cigar with L-Xlll.
Just got the 2022 Clase Azul Dia de Muertos Edition… don’t think I will open it though hahah. I definitely have to get a Louis Trae now as well for diversity. Prices keep going up too!
It will just get Better as it breathes, warms etc. One also needs a good few proper glasses. About 500bucks worth. A roaring wood fire and a salty wet dog, a warm clever woman clothed only my sweater and lush smiles ..and bathe in the glow. Ambience is ALL.... And you must not plan any of it, of course .. That is very heaven...
You can hear the regret in his voice made me sad but you only live once but as an alcoholic and someone who's tried alotta alcohol your drinking this for the status there are cheaper alternatives for that experience but gotta give I a sub cuz you bought it
el oh el............just spend 50 Canadian on a mickey of Courvoisier.....and enjoy yourself a Actual experience. 2023, its not about signing for or how it is shipped etc..or the bottle or what it is made of. ITS about the TRUTH and the liquid GOD
Ive had it..its good but I've had Cognacs for around 100 bucks that were just as good in my opinion. Never bought it...just had a rich friend who had a bottle in his bar. No booze is worth 3k lol. There is a bourbon called Pappy Van Winkle 23 that has been going for around this same price..again its good but no liquor is worth over a grand.
