Bringing a bit of family friendly (mostly) fun to youtube on the back of my bike.

Currently riding a Yamaha T7 and a Cannondale Jekyll... that's right... a push bike, I talk about current affairs, make video responses to other youtubers ... {what? That feature is gone?}.... review my equipment, crash occasionally and have a bit of fun while doing it.

I have been riding for 25+ years (no, im not old!) on sports bikes, dirt bikes, pushbikes, supermoto and adventure bikes.... and I've never excelled at any of them!

Stay positive!

This is BS to the max. I can only suggest to you to buy an electrical torque tester which can be put on a wrench and clamped into a vice and do some testing on your own and debunk yourself. If you are adding anything to the length of your wrench that is out of the "orbital movement" of your wrench you increase the force applied at the end. Only if the lever is at a 90° angle to the wrench it stays inside rotational movement's orbit of your wrench. The force is applied in a "sphere" around something you are tightening. If you set your wrench to 30Nm and you add a lever to the end you increase the diameter of that sphere and inrease the torque too. That's the best I can describe it, I'm not a native english speaker so whatever.
@Nerb1
@Nerb1 10 дней назад
But add two pivots to your system and rethink it. Because I have two pivot points.
@2lbsTrigrPull
@2lbsTrigrPull 10 дней назад
@@Nerb1 The pivot point stays around the thing you are tightnening. I can't directly link YT videos here, YT will delete that comment but copy that behind the equal sign of a YT link in your browser: AgQNndH1tzM And watch at 30:30. It's in German but he demonstrates it very clearly and that's the only thing which is very clear I could find on that subject. He sets his wrench to 30Nm and if he adds the spanner he gets 42Nm instead of 30Nm. If he puts it in a 90° angle to the spanner, he is getting 30Nm again. He explains why at the end too but well German...
@Nerb1
@Nerb1 10 дней назад
@@2lbsTrigrPull I watched it. It is not the same system. The key is that he was able to apply the torque with one hand. That means he has no additional pivot. My video is explaining how I am applying a pure torque to the spanner. It is the next level up from the basic "extension to a torque wrench" video that there is many of. In my video i explain it by sketch, computer model and practical example, and all 3 examples agree. I went to this extreme because I know people skip over videos and will assume they know what the video is saying. Please watch the video completely and understand it before you just say it is BS.

There's probably an engineer watching a guy on a motorcycle wondering why he would ride something with two wheels because its obviously not as safe as something with four. All the fun stuff has an element of risk if it's too scary for you it's because you're too old. }
@peterfalconer-h3k
@peterfalconer-h3k 12 дней назад
Two entirely different things, there's nothing engineering related about stunt riding mx bikes. Rides can be as scary as fuck but still soundly engineered and safe if they're properly maintained. Looking at the way it's flexing under load, the steelwork in the second ride would require frequent checks by someone who understands what they're doing and what they're looking for. That's something that's way beyond the capabilities of most carnival workers
@williamzoom

@@peterfalconer-h3k Who said anything about stunt riding mx bikes? If someone with an engineering credential wants to find fault & advocate for safety riding a vehicle with two wheels surely isn't as safe as four! Has this carnival ride killed anyone? Australia has very detailed legislative requirements for the operation and maintenance of rides to ensure public safety. Regulations apply to both fixed and mobile rides and are enforced by the Regulators of each state and territory. This pendulum swing ride will have been given a Design Registration Number after an inspection by state-certified engineers to operate in Australia and this is signed-off by the Regulator. Given this, I wouldn't worry about it being an unsafe design. During the certification process, the engineers provide the owner/operator with an inspection checklist and schedule. You then have to rely on the operators/owners maintaining the ride accordingly and updating the ride's logbook. The logbook is examined during the annual inspection that's mandated by the Regulator and carried out by certified engineers. There is also the requirement that a more in-depth 10 year major inspection be carried out as part of best practice but this is only expressly mandated in Queensland, as far as I'm aware. It all boils down to how much you trust the government ;-)

The Yamaha engineers know that using the 90890-01403 steering nut wrench in-line to extend the moment arm of the wrench will over torque the bearings.
