If you changed the back piece to go around the small diameter part of the priming thing in the back. Wouldn't you the be able use it like a pump action in the front? Hope that makes sense :)
Makes sense, but the issue is that the piece you're talking about has to stay all the way back through firing as the kit creates a direct linkage to the barrel which has to remain closed. You'd also have the issue of the pump kit shooting forward when firing due to the priming bar slamming forward. That wouldn't be safe, effective, or durable. I played around with an "auto open" using elastics/springs, but it wouldn't keep the barrel closed long enough or it wasn't strong enough to reopen it after firing and I shelved the idea.
👍 Thanks! A front rail is something I've had on the idea list but haven't gotten around to implementing. I'm not sure how practical it will be since that bit moves forward and back, but I'll model one up and add it to the fileset once I'm happy with it. 😁
Absolutely live this. Would there be a way to tie the action directly to the pull rod so it returns the barrel forward when its fired? Either way it is awesome for sure.
I've had a few people make that suggestion and I have an idea of how to do it but not really a clear idea of how it would be implemented in practice. It's definitely something I'm looking into. Thanks for the compliment! Glad you like it!
@@detroitdartworks Awesome! Fairly new to the hobby so I love seeing other people design things. Keep up the great work and i will be following from now on :)
Awesome design. Seems like you could add a return spring or band so you don't have to index. Could try tying A string around the two back handles that is only tight near the end of the plungers stroke forward so you don't lose much air from the breech or strength from the spring.
I ordered the m5 threaded rods off of Amazon. The m5 screws and nuts were part of a multi-size set I picked up somewhere along the way but can be bought online or at any big box hardware store that carries metric. I wanted to keep the hardware easily accessible for folks. The files were just updated to version 2 based on feedback, requests, and some late night design ideas. I'll send you an email with more details. Thanks for the interest and again thank you for the kind words!
