It is true that prices have gone both up and down on the Tesla models, but the overall trend is significantly down with only smaller, temporary price increases. I see no reason why that trend will not continue the next 3-5 years until EVs are down to same production prices as comparable ICE cars. Incentives are temporary, so EVs will have to compete on 1:1 terms in the near future. In theory EVs should be cheaper than ICE cars due to the lower complexity. The battery price is a high share of the total cost and battery prices are reducing quickly.
The different battery chemistry used on long range vs standard range models is a VERY BIG DEAL that you don’t spend enough time or show the math on. A standard range LFP battery car that can use the full 100% of capacity may actually have as much or more range than a long range that you should keep in the range of 20% to 80% of full charge. Also, if you plan on keeping your car for a very long time, you will likely find the percent of original range remaining on a standard range battery Tesla after 100,000 miles much greater than that of a long range.Tesla.
Yes, definitely have your home charging setup ready to go before taking delivery. You can order the wall connector or mobile connector when you order the car, but my mobile connector came about a week after I brought my Model Y home. I already had a Level 2 charger setup for my Chevy Volt (which I traded in for the Y) so I just put the adapter on that and was good to go until the mobile connector arrived. Cheapest option for Level 2 is simply to have a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed on a 50 amp breaker and buy the mobile connector, in my opinion.
Well I meet all your requirements with my recently bought 2023 Model Y and enjoy the vehicle. I am retired, have home charging installed, and just do local daily driving in my town. I do not need the Public charging stations for my short travels. I did not want to wait for the Refresh Model Y plus I wanted to still have the Stalks on my vehicle. All works for me.
Nice video with common sense recommendations. I am really surprised at how many people buy an electric car without knowing what they are getting into. A school teacher friend bought a Bolt thinking he could recharge at any gas station using the same amount of time as filling a gas tank . He lives in an apartment without any charging capabilities. Lucky for him he can plug in to a 110 Volt at work and claims he will never own another ICE car. The complete Model S upgrades were accomplished a couple of years ago.
Matt Danadel, I think it's time to talk about of CEO of the Company your channel covers. I strongly feel that he's undermining the institutions of our country pushing false conspiracy theories. He is on the phone reportedly with the former President several times a month now and this person was recently convicted of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers, and his corporation was recently convicted of 17 felonies as well. Elon is claiming without evidence that the trial was politically motivated and not fair. Not only that, but Elon is selling cars allegedly to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, but has joined forces with a political party that has worked to prevent any Climate legislation for 40 years. I've been following the Tesla development and brand for many years, but I feel the time has come now that we can't separate this CEO and this company from what it's CEO is working to do, which I feel is trying to destroy this great nation we live in. Please consider this. Thank you.
I think you’re cherry picking something trivial. Just because Elon’s political views don’t align with yours doesn’t mean he’s a bad person. Just because he’s a centrist and not far left to your liking, doesn’t mean he’s a bad person or has done anything bad. He’s just simply pointed out some injustice and he even said he’d do the same regardless of the party involved. Maybe you should apply this level of scrutiny to other car companies with atrocious histories. Here is some background to educate yourself: 1. Volkswagen: Founded in 1937 as part of Hitler’s vision for a “people’s car,” Volkswagen used forced labor during WWII. Despite its origins, it has grown into one of the largest car manufacturers globally. 2. Porsche and Ferdinand Porsche: Ferdinand Porsche designed the Volkswagen Beetle for Hitler and used forced labor during WWII. 3. BMW and Günther Quandt: Günther Quandt was a Nazi party member, and BMW employed forced laborers from concentration camps during the war. 4 Ford and Henry Ford: Henry Ford published anti-Semitic materials and received a medal from Nazi Germany. 5. Daimler-Benz (Mercedes-Benz): During WWII, Daimler-Benz used forced labor from concentration camps to produce military vehicles for the Nazi regime. The company has since acknowledged this dark chapter in its history. 6. Toyota: During WWII, Toyota produced trucks for the Japanese military and faced labor issues. The company has since become a leader in automotive technology and sustainability. 7. Hyundai and Kia: Both South Korean companies were involved in controversial labor practices during their rapid growth phases. Hyundai faced significant criticism for its treatment of workers in the 1990s. 8. Renault: Louis Renault, the founder, was accused of collaborating with Nazi Germany during World War II by producing military vehicles for the Nazis. After the war, his company was nationalized by the French government due to these accusations. 9. General Motors (GM): GM’s subsidiary, Opel, was heavily involved in the Nazi war effort, producing military equipment and vehicles. While GM itself faced less direct criticism, its involvement through Opel is notable. 10. Fiat: Fiat collaborated with Mussolini’s Fascist regime in Italy, producing military vehicles and equipment. The company benefited from government contracts and support during this period. In just stating the facts. Elon hasn’t supported anti-Semitic groups or engaged in similar controversies as these other companies. Criticizing Elon solely for his political views ignores his significant contributions. If you disapprove of his views, reconsider supporting brands with far more troubling histories.
Thank you brother for the very informative video. It’s my first time driving an EV vehicle and I’m happy with my purchase! I’m still learning a lot and my wife loves it too! Thank you so much.
The new designs look so much better though! But yeah that model y deal is amazing, especially with the low apr. When the new update come out then all of a sudden you have the old Tesla. Doesn’t matter if it’s 1 or 5.
I understand they need to be serviced or maintained, but what does that mean? My apologies for being vapid I've just been looking for a video on long term maintenance/reliability on the MYLR. Considering trading in my suv for one with low mileage (32k) I want to feel confident within my purchase and curiosity in hopes that this car will last a good 5-10 years with standard or annual "maintenance". I don't commute much, not massive long distance road trips. Just general DD, occasional trips to the mountain/coast :)
Yes, if your Tesla has LFP batteries you can charge to 100%. This video was made before LFP batteries came out. Also not all Teslas have LFP battery, only certain trims/models
#6 - more like triple to quadruple, I pay $800 a year for my Hybrid Camry's insurance and I have heavy coverage no 250% is no= where near 35%, what a liar !!
I saw my first one last week, parked at a Costco near where I live. I have seen thousands of their cars, mostly white Model 3's, the poorly built model.
What sucks in my case, is that 3 months into the year, I didnt even consider a newer model coming out till next year. So when I decided to buy a model Y and book the car, next thing I know, I start seeing news about this juniper refresh and its really stressing me out. Because, while I understand the reasons to buy right now. I keep hearing "rumors" of what the new version will come with. And the biggest thing for me is the battery. All these rumors online are talking about the new version coming out with a different LFP battery and more range without the need to only charge it to 80% which is fking huge. So im so close to eating the cost of the order fee and canceling because what if its true? Im not leasing or financing the car, im buying it straight up. So this incentive to buy now for this deal doesnt really apply. Unless the tax credit will disapear when the new model comes out? Because if it does, I wouldnt regret buying the outated version. It all just depends on how much the new total will be once its released. And thats a gamble like you mentioned. Man.. This is stressing me out because ive been saving money for 4 years to not have to have a car payment and I feel like im about to get screwed. Because range is the most important thing for me. I travel for work. AHHHH...
Unless you're driving over 200 miles, charging to 80% shouldn't be limiting. And you can still go to 100% for those few occasions where you you really need maximum range and can't top-off at a Supercharger.
