Its so gross how people are just impressed and honor these people for doing a job in such an insanely dangerous way. Dont get me wrong here. All respect to the workers. But maybe the trillion dollar oil companies could spend a billion and come up with some safer working conditions.

Thats how we use to run. Air Chugger pulling pipe up the V Door, Driller kicking in the pump after connection, build up pressure, run Steing to your Rotor, Derrick a bit out of Plumb 😂, liwer bit to contact on bottom. Very well done 👍👍
Hazing for no real reason is not good...BUT...for jobs like this it must go on a lot and it has a purpose. If you put your life in someone's hands you need to know you can rely on them BEFORE you put it there.
I worked for 6 months when I was 18, and it's a repetition, but if you're not paying attention, you can get killed, or you can kill someone else ,the guys working with you they become very close friends it's a hard job but nobody complains.
It's a job you don't want to do with a hangover, my very first job I was 18 ,it's a no bullcrap job if you don't work like a perfect team the other guys would kick you out .
it is beggarly drilling rig, you need AKB (АКБ in Russian lettering) for DP connection to make your work more safely. In Russia it is unallowable to use chains for DP's screbling for a long time ago.
When everyone knows their job and does it well on a crew like this it actually makes work fun. I built bridges for 10 years and with the right crew even the hardest days were almost fun lol
I remember those days back when my husband worked on offshore rigs in the Gulf Of Mexico and on the mouth of the Mississippi.Sometimes on land rigs all for Noble offshore Drilling more than 8 and a half years of service now Noble Drilling is telling me they gave us my husband pension and I beg to differ.Most people know your pension will not payout unless you have 10 years if not you must wait until your retirement age.well I say that to say this have your paperwork in order my husband passed Aug 2022 now they want me to fight them for his pension bull crap I shouldn’t have to 38 years of marriage well I think I will.Always check on your paperwork from time to time please do it for your family.rostabouts,roughnecks and drillers are some of the most dangerous and stressful jobs a man can achieve.#RIP BABY #MYLOVEFORUWILLNEVEREND
Changing an alternator isn't a good example. I'm a woman and I've changed a few alternators. Oil rig worker would be a more appropriate job a woman wouldn't be able to do. There are many physically difficult jobs. Alternator changing is easy for anyone once they know how.
It looks like a dance. And yet it's rather hard and dangerous work. When I see the work with the chains and the strong, yet fragile human fingers, I get chills. I don't even want to know how many injuries this job has. May bad luck and misfortune pass you guys by.
I dont understand why they have to move so fast, and how in the world the human body can take that movement and not break their backs, or lose limbs with all the chains and such.
Excellent video and even better teamwork! No "mailing it in" on the rig floor. I get worn out just watching! So smooth when they tighten the wraps of the chain by raising the tongs at about 2:12.
This is a prime example of various types of intelligence. These men aren’t university educated, but they are running as a perfectly well oiled machine, and that takes brain power. They may not know what some prolific pessimistic philosopher wrote, or what the most recent modern interpretation of said writings are, but they are well versed in what they work with, and in its on a level that we do not understand. It’s fascinating to see people excel in things that are not generally considered as intelligent. Those men know more about their work, than most of us know about anything. That. Is. True, intelligence.
