I wish our cruise on Viking was like this but we were caught by the Rhine floods and only cruised for 3 days and became a bus trip. We missed many Christmas markets. I'm so jealous.

We went on the same cruise in early December and we missed Strasbourg (well, we went but we left before the markets opened to sailing ahead of the approaching high water levels of the Rhine). Thankfully Mannheim was a lovely stop the next day and made up for not being able to shop in France. We also didn’t need to go by bus, but we were told of other ships not being able to make it North fast enough. I wasn’t expecting high water levels in December.

Sounds like you had an amazing time! If you are not traveling with a group can you socialize with others whether inside or outside without wearing a mask?
Yes of course! Outdoors, no masks required unless you are actually at the buffet (when they serve a buffet outdoors) and indoors, once you are seated at a table in the dining room or in the lounge having a drink, your mask can come off.
Helpful for info, but totally not sold. I feel like she is essentially saying, “It was so nice, we didn’t even have to jump off the cliff, they just carried us and dropped us off the cliff. Amazing customer service!“ 😂
Glad you find the info helpful. Not sure how that's your takeaway but the long and the short of it is that they have health protocols in place for everyone's protection but they don't get in the way of you enjoying a river cruise. It was my first river cruise back since the pandemic and I - and everyone else travelling - had a great time.
