Good video, thanks for the extra detail and info. So, sadly funny story about those screws that go in from the firewall side under the dash top; about 2 week ago, I was in the salvyard looking for some parts, and came across a wrecked 2000 model. The dash in my '01, about 67 pieces, the dash in the wrecked truck had 1 small crack. I started taking it apart, the spot where those dash tops DON'T break......those screw mounts. I thought I could just pry those off, and walk away with a dash top for far less than a new one........nope, the last 2 o. The driver's side got me, pried a little too much, now that one is as broke as mine....😒
Great video thank you. I'm getting ready to do my 99 Ram. Did you have a problem with any subdash area breaking off or cracking? I need to change my Heater core and A/C evap as well but I'm worried I'll destroy the rotten subdash attach points and won't ever get my dash reinstalled.
Man…. Thank you sir … my buddy just give me his 97 and body is pretty good for year but typical dodge dash all broke to hell and I didn’t want to put no dash cover on it … just tow bar the truck here today and this evening I was like you know I am really thinking on making this truck show room floor new again…. And the dash I definitely need to replace… I have to fix a coolant leak on the back that sprays on the distributor…
Here is a bit of a cautionary tale, I bought the dash cover and bezel from LMC Truck, the dash cover fits ok but the bezel is giving me fits! because the bezel is made for 1999 and later trucks there is a bit of modifying to be done, first is the power outlet that has to be removed from the old bezel, not a problem, the problem comes when you have to mount the outlet to the new bezel Get out the gorilla glue. Next is the headlight switch, looks like the 1998 and earlier switch may have to be moved or material removed from the bezel. The old sub frame of the dash is extremely fragile and it may contribute to the fitment problems. Finally a big THUMBS DOWN to LMC Truck for choosing to be mum about the problems the bezel will cause when fitting to a 1998 and earlier truck
This took me around 5 hours, if it's your first time and you're mechanically inclined. Probably do it in around 2 hours after you've done a couple. I was pretty picky and did a lot of cleaning though. Once it's out the heater core is simple.
Thank you by far the best video on dash removal , I done one years on parts truck dash was damaged & smashed badly so tbis is a refresher coarse, other then the cheap dash 2nd gen trucks are quite solid ... now to order from LMC truck to get correct fit dash
This helps me out a lot, after hours of searching many websites, I found this video and by far yours explained the best possible way to perform this replacement. I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500. My dashboard is so bad, I had to take the top totally out. I will be ordering my dashboard replacement from LMC truck. Thank you for posting this video sir.
