You can find this episode intact on the Australian Region Free Blu-Ray release of the two Odd Couple movies which includes 10 TV series episodes as a bonus. This is the only episode in that set that is one butchered in the US DVD releases that gets restored.
The “haters” here cant appreciate the banality on this hilarious banter. I miss both of these men. The timing, the gestures and comments like I even hate to see cheap furniture like this destroyed. I think you come here to save on a psychiatric. The tangents are hilarious.
the most reasonable view of censorship, and it was spoken over 50 years ago. rod is rolling in his grave, and at this rate we will all suffer the consequences of the sensitive and ignorant.
So-called "Tony Randall" wasn't even his real name. He was born Aryeh Leonard Rosenberg. Changing one's birthname, other than for marriage, shows disrespect of surname & family heritage. It's especially a shame, if it's done at the behest of deceitful & mercenary 'Hollywood' studios or entertainment moguls & managers. The ludicrous misrepresentation of self, for ANY reason, is simply unnecessary.
Where are ALL the songs that were deleted from the Odd Couple DVD box set because they didn't want to have to pay for the licensing? I'm thinking of Singing in the Rain, sung by Oscar in the finale and a twenties song, sung by Barbara Rhoades in the flashback to the episode about Blinky and Morris. Restoring all of that music, or at least making it available here would be great.
I thought of this song while watching Laugh Clown Laugh (1928), on a free streaming service. The song worked with the silent film! I listened to it once and didn't pay attention that it was Tony Randall, but noticed it the second playing as the film finished, pretty cool experience, try it. Try it on and open another window with it playing seconds later, it's like modern art watching it with Lon Chaney.
It's interesting that he talks about Stanley Kubrick a bit, being that I often thought that Kubrick's style of storytelling was quite similair to Rod Serling's (though I can't picture Rod Serling ever doing films like Dr. Strangelove, 2001, or A Clockwork Orange)
Mr. Randall is right bout “lucky to have a hit” cuz he never had a hit after “Odd Couple” again. I had the pleasure of meeting him. He was a kind, gracious man to me.
Finally listening to Mr. Serling's lecture nearly half a century after Nixon's resignation, which I watched on tv, playing hooky from grade school, while my folks were working. What creative talent, intellect and imagination Rod had! Sure wish he'd been given more time amongst the living.
It's hard to look at Tony Randall and not identify him as Felix Unger. His voice, His mannerisms, his diction, the man is a legend forever like his co star Jack Klugman.
I saw this show when it aired , one of the very few I saw of Johnny Carson’s show. I tried to see any appearance with Tony Randall . I didn’t found Johnny funny. I WAS DEFINITELY WRONG. I’m a BIG fan now
I wonder how many people under 40 even know who Rod Serling is. I think certain episodes of The Twilight Zone should be shown in schools. The Monsters are due on Maple Street sadly still holds up so well and I think showing episodes like this with a discussion after could really be educational and much more entertaining for the students.
Great compilation! Few actors were as talented at comedy as Tony Randall. The Odd Couple (so much funnier than the Neil Simon movie) was the perfect vehicle for his many talents.
Even tho you know your heart is breaking, laugh, clown, laugh! HahahahahahahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!
Odd Couple is One of the Greats . Some ABC 💩 head cancelled it. Nice to See Richard Dawson in this one at 03:22 into the segment . Thank you for sharing this .
I met Tony Randall, shook his hand and told him how much I loved him...I was just a teen. He was running the streets of NY with Bella Abzug when she was campaigning for office. What a genuinely quirky and wonderful guy. 💜
Tony Randall is so underrated! His career is filled with major movies and he's worked with major Hollywood stars. He plays the starstruck fan so well that people believed it was true!
I AM PISSED THAT THE DVDS I BOUGHT FROM SEASON THREE OF THE ODD COUPLE, NOT TO MENTION THE COMPLETE SERIES, EDITED OUT FUNNY PARTS OF THE SHOW. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO STICK THE DVDS UP THE COLLECTED ASS OF WHO EVER MUTILATED THE TV SHOW.
