We are Mike, Lisa, Conor, Ryan, Duke, Stripe, and Sketty. We invite you to follow us along as we travel around the world. We sold off everything, moved to Kemah, Texas, took sailing lessons in August 2023, bought a boat, and started off into the unknown. We are looking for a simpler less stressful way of life, while enjoying the beauty and nature that our planet has to offer. So, if you like fishing, sailing, traveling, hiking, and cooking we will have some of all of it. Thank you for supporting us on our journey!
Hello, nice video, very beautiful places, wonderful walking tour, thank you for sharing, friendly like, good luck and all the best, have a nice evening🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗
Hello, your videos are the perfect guide for me, I'll do exactly the same trip next December, from Houston to NY and it's very helpful to have a reference about places to anchor, marinas, places to visit... thank you.
Thanks very much! We have been along the ICW from Galveston to Pensacola, but after that we have had to go out into the Gulf because our mast is too tall to get under some of the bridges. I have heard stories of the barge skippers being hard to get along with, but we have had the opposite experience. Everyone we have encountered, with a couple rare exceptions, has been very nice to work with. We had one fellow that was unhappy because I was on the wrong frequency until another skipper pointed out that I needed to switch channels, and one very impatient skipper in a lock that nearly tore off a couple of our fenders as he exited the lock, but other than that, as ll the skippers have been polite, friendly and helpful. You will enjoy your trip, I bet!
Actually, being out of sight of land doesn’t bother me. The only thing that really worries me on long passages are unpredictable changes in weather. We try to plan overnight passages for times when the weather is good, but sometimes there will be an unpredicted storm. Some big supercells will be moving at over 50mph, and there is no way to get out of the way if it’s coming for you. That’s the thing that worries me.
Thanks! Crystal River was very relaxing, and we all enjoyed it. We paddle boarded and swam with the manatees, which was a blast. They are peaceful creatures, but they are big!
I looked this route up on Google maps. I didn’t know it existed. I am 53 years old and actually managed to pass geography 😂. Thanks for the education and the trip. Now I want to go in person.
