Hi everyone, my name is Yostin and im an Anime Lover for more than 15 years, i made this channel to review some of my favorite animes through the years.
Yeah hortensia saga felt really mid. Spider anime was good through the first half but second half got a bit bad because they focus too much on the other students and there is a lot of bad cg and terrible animation ☠️
Honestly aside from the queen doing the idol dance I don't have too many complaints about the villains, I'm more concerned about the main guy's decision making and overall dumb world building.
I should give it a read, I remember seeing an art of that manga with the girls from last tour in the back, maybe in a few weeks I can do a video about it!
The thing was physically painful for me to watch, I felt like I was watching an edgy 13 year old's power fantasy who thought they were so much smarter and deeper than everyone when actually they were as shallow as a deflated wal-mart kiddy pool. IF you can turn your brain off and just enjoy the over the top gorefest then I can see enjoying it but I just couldn't stop asking "why? how?" every few seconds.
(Looking from preview) Why aren't they using thier gu- Oh... they can stop bullets... i hope this is a Mario scenario that they can only stop it because its a huge bullet
Since when anime made sense? I love "KIngdoms of Ruin!" It's over the top crazy! I'm waiting for the 2nd season. Have you watched "Shigurui?" I was watching "Kingdoms of Ruin" while doing laundry to be honest.
I don't mind some nonsense but this was affecting the plot and it felt like it was trying too hard to be edgy while still trying to be serious. Oh I haven't checked that one, looks good I might give it a try!
Its not that I disagree with you, but at the same time I don't think it was that bad. I see it as it could be much better, but also much worse. In my opinion it just couldn't hold on to a single message: is killing bad or is killing good. Every episode was a "new take", in one episode someone, who deserves it, gets killed, in the next the protag gets scolded for doing so. And the viewer doesn't get an answer. It's like decide for yourself, but whatever you decide on, you are going to be wrong. Maybe, just maybe, the anime wanted to show how gray the line between killing and forgiving is. But if so, it did a really bad job at it.
I used to like it and it's really terrible now because I remember watching it in 2019 and plus I know this is in the future but way worse than the cyberpunk anime
Being future or not, the whole trainwreck of the last few episodes was just a textbook example on bad storytelling. They had the easiest layup for a dunk but tripped and hit their face straight to the board.
I like it for the most part but the fact he is a child just drive me crazy how can she say she "love" him if he still a child I just could not take her seriously at all. but for the most part it was a nice and fine series.
I think we need to take some liberties with the ages, the guy acts way older than his age and the girl acts younger, mentally they are in a similar stage, but I do get what you are saying, it can be a bit off-putting whenever there is a shota or Loli involved
@@yostinanimereviews still can't really get behind her loving literally a child. But it's a nice and cute series for what it is. I did enjoy it a little
This is a very good season. I think you should add Girls Band Cry, they nailed the GGI style better than Bang Dream in my opinion and have a similar but more "real" vibe thhan Jellyfish cant swim in the nigth
I am watching it but I personally didn't like it, I'm not a fan of the cg but even then I also don't like the characters, I think the moment they lost me was in episode 2 when the main girl was complaining about how strict her family was and she listed the rules. No phone when eating, always have family dinner and on Sundays they spend time as a family. I was like girl you have a healthy family relationship! I get the bullying but her first and only option was to quit school and move out of her house, really?
@@yostinanimereviews good point, but another view on these topics is that there are families which are very conservative and strict and make up that in a mask of 'happy family'. They seem to not give the support Nina needed when she got bullied, and from the phone call in the first episode, it seems that they don't take her very seriously. I don't think her family are bad people, but maybe she was living in a bubble and wanted some freedom and to konw more of the world. She didn't even known gay people do exist xD
Love the guy! I don't think he was ugly, but big burly guy with thick lips is not the image of beauty in Japan, he was seen more like a cool strong guy by the guys but for the girls he was Intimidating or below average appearance
that viral hits anime is gorgeous the art is absolutely stunning and the protagonist you say has no redeeming qualities is trying to make money to support him mom's hospital bills I mean ya did watch it right?
The guy does want to pay his mom's hospital bills but it feels like they just added that to make him more likeable, you can see it in the way he behaves, he is happy about all the attention and only cares about the fame and money.
Great review. Agree on most points. I disagree on the Waku vs Jun as protagonists part, however. I feel like Waku's premature death utilized a very intentional misdirection tactic in giving us someone with a lot of Main Character energy only to rip him away as a means of turning the narrative on its ear (The "False Protagonist" has also become a very popular tactic in contemporary writing, see; Game of Thrones, Goblin Slayer, Kingdom Hearts 2, Assassin's Creed 3.) It works a lot better in the manga because the stories there play out closer to an anthology, each battle allows each kid to star in the spotlight, and the manga even makes this super explicit with Jun pointing out "Each person is the main character in their own story." The anime fumbles this because, for some bizarre reason, it's disinterested in the kids despite them being the main event and the entire reason the story is worthwhile and impactful. As for Jun, in the manga, my only real issue is his turning point came so late with no indication he'd change, otherwise his arc was well done and well earned, and visiting the families of the late pilots (as well as bonding with Yoko Machi) was integral for his journey, plus visiting the pilot's families made for a nice mini "epilogue" of sorts... All except for Chizuru, which I agree, both the manga and anime really fail her. I'll also gently suggest the "closest" thing to a protagonist, in the manga at least, is Koyemshi (or arguably Tanaka,) because we get the most access to him, and he has the most dramatic change, which is why it's such a shame the anime reimagined him as your pretty average evil mascot.
Thanks for your comment! I understand your reasoning and I get the false protagonist, I just think that rather than doing that and going for the type of anthology type of show, the story would have benefitted way more by having waku as the single protagonist that helped everyone with their struggles. Instead we had some episodes with kids that were not particularly interesting. The show is still good but it's just those minor things that feel like a missed opportunity.
@@yostinanimereviews Well I meant more the manga, I think there's a ton of mistakes they made in the show where things didn't translate as well (including the anthology feel of the stories,) but I understand what you mean.
100% agree, Dangers in My Heart/BokuYaba is such an amazing series. Ichikawa and Yamada are two incredible characters with realistic and healthy character and relationship growth, which in itself is just peak wholesomeness and sweetness. It is definitely my favorite romance anime/manga series and the best I have seen/read. Hopefully once the manga gets a bit farther along we'll get a third season within the next few years! But yea, it's peak romance and I am so happy to have discovered it!
Looks like at this moment there is not enough material for a second season and staff have been saying their goodbyes on Twitter so we will probably have to wait for a while. You can always read the manga if you don't want to wait, but I think the anime is better.
I watched both old and new romances like sakurasou, kawaisou, kaichou maid, kimi ni todoke, toradora, nagi no asukara, oregairu, shirayukihime, kotoura, kaibutsu-kun, otonari tenshi, kaguya-sama, tsuki ga kirei, just because, kubo-san, takagi-san, nagatoro-san, one week friends, yamada-kun gamer, yamada-kun & 7 witch, the gamers, and many more anime with minor romance, but the dangers in my heart still so good and currently my best romance favorite. You can say it's subjective, but at least I know romance and watch more than 20 titles in this genre.
I think it did it a bit more compared to season 1 but still less than more generic animes but I would say the few tropes were still tasteful and made sense in the story
It's pretty generic but not generic at the same time. Usually, the "popular girl x mob" type of story, the girl is the one who leads the story and the mc is dense af. But we know that in this series, we almost never know Yamada's though and both of them are constantly making moves instead of just waiting for something to happen.
I would remove aliens 2 because that was crazy. The show had really good charachters so I would like to see them work together defeating the organisation. + the romance was a bit underdeveloped in my opinion and they could have the mc develop more because he so shy he should figure out what he wants and who and why. Because the pink girl in my opinion was more like a sister towards the mc if I remember correctly. I do like it when shows show different kind of relationships because you always see romantic relationships it would be cool to see a show where they have family relationships and friendships and so on. do you know any shows like that? Good video btw explained my mixed feeling about the show perfectly.
I think if you are looking for complex relationships that are not necessarily romantic, the best one is Angel Beats. Maybe March comes in like a lion fits but I'm not sure because I have only watched episode 1. I think recently most animes go for safer easy romance tropes rather than going for multidimensional characters, you will probably find more luck in coming of age mangas or older than 2012 animes for that type of thing.
The Archdemon's Dilemma is at the top of my list for this season. It's definitely the kinda show where I'm taking a chance. But I love the idea of this guy who is perceived to be terrifying and powerful becoming a dolt around the girl he has fallen in love with. Meanwhile, she's trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The challenge will be in seeing how they will continue to hold the audience's interest because they will need to move past that dynamic at some point, and they'll need something to take its place.
I know, honestly I skipped a few at the end that I may still watch, but this is one of the biggest seasons ever in terms of anime quantity, and a lot of them look really good
note for re:monster: in his past life some people had abilities and he was one of them. He was able to eat anything and take its ability or natural features (like if he eats a turtle he could gain its shell or a viper its venom), this power came with him when he reincarnated.
Yeah, I read it a long time ago so the details are a bit hazy for me, I also think that the girl who killed him was his sister? I just remember having so much fun with the story, it will be one of my favorites for the season
I think this is a common problem with anime and maybe most serial-form media. They outgrow their premise and don't know what to do, or evolve into something generic.
? Pretty sure the author didn't work on any cells at work manga and studios are not the same, I did saw that this is the same author as kengen ashura which is crazy!
It was released as a 12 episode continuous story on Hulu, and it was completely crap once Romi decided to go into hibernation. The implied incest of Cain literally boning a copy of his mother is probably the least egregious part. Beyond the absurdly on-the-nose environmental references, space cadet man decides to shoot a child instead of the obvious "take me with you" option with the space ark and its operator right there, and the not so subtle racial stereotype "capitalism bad" character selling weapons up to and including nukes to a pre-electricity population that he poisoned into being as violent as possible for author know what (Literally never mentioned, implied, shown or hinted at he seems to be giving them away while monologing about getting rich), gets surprised enough to be killed bu them. The Moopys, which were so poorly explained not even the Hulu hired translator realized the liquid alien was one and said moopy not seeming to realize it was the merchants target or even seeming to notice he was up to no good in spite of explicitly saying it would keep an eye on him. Then it explucity didn't survive the exact secenario moopies were supposedly famous for surviving.
Thanks, i hard the anime was different, but i didn't really want to watch it to see how. A lot of the downsides you mentioned were interesting for me in the manga, i liked that there was no protagonist, and that the adults were trying to spare them from as much political bs as possible but failed just as much as they succeeded. I would agree about the teacher though, i wanted so badly for him to get killed, but i do see the point in letting him live. It definitely underlines the point of 'is this world worth saving, and are there people whose lives matter more than others'. I also liked how Dungbeetle talks about how his group were constantly fighting, showing that this group of kids was a big exception to the usual.
@@yostinanimereviews If I remember correctly, the ending was spoiled too soon before release, readers got mad at the outcome, which led to them changing the ending...
Thanks so much for the support, this season will have a lot of good choices, if not, you can check my anime reviews in case you want to look for something different.
