About twice a week I talk about music, movies, or other things I like. Pre-Covid, I went to a lot of gigs and used to upload videos from those filmed by my friends. Sometimes I do short videos of creative work, but mostly its just me talking about stuff I love.
Melancholia I brought, most movie I'll ever wanna see again, the Crazies I also have bit I have all of George Romeros films - but not because they are good mostly the opposite "Martin" springs to mind. I don't "Get" Philip Glass and don't know why Bowie & Eno are on the cover when I hear nothing in the recording that makes me think of them. Frank Turner I will stop commenting...
Very informative review Mark. I'm slowly working my way through your Kraftwerk reviews ... I thought I knew everything about them ... how wrong I was! Keep 'em coming!
Loving these JD/NO vids, their worst album of the 80's IMO, still, better than anything released after Republic. Crazy how bad the albums have been since Rep.
I grew up in and around Northampton and you couldn't move for leather jackets with the Mission painted on the back between 86 and 90 when EVERYTHING changed.
Bro,go back and listen to leisure, especially Sing and the final track Wear me down, they are fucking phenomenal tracks. Personally,I think it's aged really well, cheers.
I was there. Somehow got invited to the after party on the 1st floor bar. It was a who’s who of Britpop celebrities … remember hanging with members of Lush, Elastica, Jack and a lot of people that looked they should be in bands … the whole thing got gloriously weird when Neil Hannon from Divine Comedy got us all in cabs to the Marathon Bar (a late night Kebab shop in Camden with a hidden speakeasy type bar that semi-legally served booze long after everything had shut in London and would perfectly fit a Quentin Tarantino movie). Anywher Neil got up on a table and sang Sinatra and Elvis classic - or something that sounded like that. He eventually fell off the table and made a quick escape through the back door. The rest of us stayed on until 4 or 5am. The gig was amazing. The video doesn’t do it justice. It’s also the last Suede gig I’ve seen that I’d call the end of part 2 of Suede. Something changed from about that time.
Great vid. I'm going to annoyingly keep pushing New Fads on to you - more Manchester (kinda) The Hannett produced Get better (link to JD) is really great, worth a re look and exploration I think this band. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SGJjjGvndTw.html
Thank you so much Mark for including all the videos. I can't wait to watch all of them !!😊 One of your Best shows. A fascinating band story that you brought us.
