While I'm not an expert, I've been researching and experimenting since 2010 on more practical and efficient ways of growing my own food in a limited space (my back yard). These videos will show the evolution of my garden. I hope that they might give you some ideas to use for yourself.
Was it said? If not, it needs to be. DRILL AIR HOLES! Depending what you're using it for, in this case, growing seeds, you need fresh airin and stale air out, otherwise your plants will grow mold, suffocate and die. Also, if you're planning on leaving it outside, drill some holes on the top, for when it rains. And some at the bottom, to drain excess water.
Have you ever had male flowers that do not produce pollen. My vines are about8' long but the fruit turns yellow and falls off. Tried pollinating by hand but when I open the male flowers to get at the pollen the anther has none. Seems all the male flowers are like that. Have no idea what to do. Any suggesting what to do?
Our Halloween pumpkin got forgotten about near the edge of my deck . I did throw them out eventually . Apparently not before seed dropped from it . Months later we got a pumpkin plant . Its still kind of small but its doubled in size . So I thought I should look into how to encourage fruiting .
Your videos are excellent & very much appreciated! I just water rooted 2 garlic cloves. Can I plant them in a pot now (june1st in Connecticut)? Thank you!! 🧄
Keith. How do you get water to the farthest end of the farthest bed just using a water barrel? Seems like there wouldn't be enough pressure, especially at the far end. Help me understand. Thanks
I want to do the same. I think I may have it dumped in my subway on a tarp though so it closer lol wish I cld have them just drive up in the grass honestly lol
i have seen alot of methods, most are overkill and pvc is expensive. But, this is the 1st, video, that i have seen that is all you really need to get the job done efficiehtly and cost effective, witrhout tooo much digging
Perforated is used when the piping doesn't slope enough to drain properly. But perforated needs a 'sock' wrapped around it to prevent debris build up from blocking the holes. The sock allows excess water to drain out and doesn't let debris in. If you have enough slope, you don't need perforated.
THANK you for JUST SHOWING THE PROCESS, not yammering on about this and that! LOL. yes info is good to get but sometimes you just wanna cut to the chase. I would like to have maybe a caption appear for est. cost but really I can find my own prices.. LOVE THIS
Seriously - it looks great to me. I watched your downspout video and thought it was very, very good.... OK, it was excellent. I wondered about the pipe going away from the house, but it was perforated, so that answered that one... and you made holes in this pipe. Diffusing the water across a larger area makes perfect sense to me - and we are on acreage size property. We DO need to do something to solve the rapid water rush from the downspouts, they drill a pretty fast hole into the ground... and we cannot have that next to the house! (As you well know.) I am considering a number of options, but putting something below ground level really does seem to be the best solution, because the house was built up a but, and all around the house, the water will be running down slope... your helpful videos provide direct and indirect options that I could use to either get the job done, or consider additional options I had not thought about without seeing your videos! Great work, another LIKE for your video!
Remember, this video was for extending the sump pump further into the yard and and giving it some underground drainage. The initial problem was that the whole house dehumidifier was pulling so much moisture out of the basement air that the pump was pushing water out so often that the yard was staying wet. Not an issue now. Thanks for watching.
I cut off the shoot but leave the pumpkin. Leaves more energy for the plant to put into the pumpkin instead of growing more plant. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Perfect timing for your video as I’m about to install a downspout drain for the first time weather permitting over the weekend in the Northeast. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Keith!
