SO GLAD TO SEE YOU BOTH!! Coach I'm glad you made it and you were always in our thoughts. I watched the weather channel for days hoping you were ok. This podcast came at a great time. We have our first snow today in Wyoming. I hate snow and cold, but.. Great podcast and love the info to think about. It really shows how wrong we did things when us old guys trained when we were young. Thank you so much for these podcast. STAY safe.
Thank you for the kind words and thoughts! 100 mph winds with water isn't the ideal combination for keeping things intact. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
It thinks cooking dinner is stress, I lose more body battery from that than workouts, basic activities drain me down to 5 daily, I dont sit at a desk at work, I am not happy with this watch!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. The data is unreal when you evaluate what we consider "hard" workouts and stressful. Does help you preempt getting run down the week of a race with non-workout stress.
This explanation makes perfect sense. I have extreme pain in my lower back, lower abs, thighs and pelvic area when exposed to cold weather. In my early 20ies I even avoided going on a week long skiing trip to Austria with my friends due to this problem. After a while of exposure in the cold my muscles often starts to spasm. On the contrary, when I have visited places like Egypt, Israel and the Canary Islands where the weather is dry and warm, I have been feeling a bit more relief.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Getting the blood flowing into your hips would relax the muscles and improve your range of motion. Let me know if we can help in any way moving forward!
Sounds good now, but get back to me in about a year and let me know how that is working out for you. I think I already know the answer (I have seen it for years now). Best of luck.
Awesome podcast as usual. Dan just to let you know that the tools used on dirtbikes is the same as the ones used on UTV's. Karts depending on how there built are the same to. There may be a special tool here and there, but mostly the same. If you or Coach want to start a dirt bike repair shop or dealership I'm putting in my res. Been wrenching scence 13 years old. Raced scence age 6. COACH, I hope all is well with you and your family.
@@CoachRobbBeams I rotate my body and then take a breathe. After that I exhale and then take a new breathe. But I am getting tired by doing exhaling and inhaling
Hey coach, how should people eat and train that work at night? I'm sure some of the viewers work at night and I'm sure there may be some body differences from day and night.
This is mind blowing! I love my Garmin. I’ve never connected the deep sleep to awake time. Also, I’ve never heard of 9 hours of sleep being the goal. Lots of interesting facts in this.
The Garmin is an incredible resource for sure! Thank you for watching and let me know if you have any questions regarding the interpretation of the data.
Coach and Dan, I may be wrong, but i think Gary Semics ran the #6 or maybe it was 5 in the mid 70's. I think he was in the 500cc class at the time. I trained with him many moons ago. I'm 55 but when I was young there was 2 fuzzy channels depending on how you adjusted the rabbit ears and tin foil. So live moto on TV was off and on.
I just started riding in October of 2022. I’m 41 years old. I quickly started training with my son who races. I don’t race but I love riding and training. I’ve noticed when I train that I have a hard time sleeping. How do I know the difference between adrenal fatigue and just being excited about riding? Does it look the same?
Adrenal fatigue has external signs: night sweats, craving simple sugars, not able to sleep, low libido. Garmin will help you look at daily stress variables to adjust nutrition, hydration and sleep habits. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for watching and commenting.
To me Lechein is the first "6" when he won his mx 125 title, but David Bailey is who i think of when he was "6" in 1986. Number "5" is Rick Johnson from that same 1986 year but i think of Ryan Dungey when i think, number "5." Number "4" is Broc Glover who was the first i recall being "4." But, Carmichael is who i think of when i think "4." James Stewart IS number "7." Number "2" is Jeff Ward and Ryan Villopoto, and number "3'' is O'Show, Emig( who was first career number 3 but only was able to use it in pre season before his career ending injury), but 3 belongs to Tomac. "8" is da beast from da east, Damon Bradshaw. "9" was Keith Bowen and Cianciarulo in modern times. Oh, and number" 1" was usually McGrath or RC4.
So true! It is a shame that people wait until their body can't continue, even after you share experiences of others. There is always that one person who thinks "that applies to everyone else but me, I am different". Thank you for watching.
I never woke up ready to get up so I set my alarm 20 minutes earlier than I want to get up, hit snooze for 20 minutes. That resets the sleep cycle which is about 20 minutes. Works great
You completely missed the point of the video. I even made the declaration in the video that I wasn't advocating that chips where "healthy". Thank you for taking the time and commenting though.
Make total sense. Unfortunately it doesn’t line with what the broken media is saying right now. Everyone is on these broken loose weight diets and so many people are fat and unhealthy. Thanks for the info Coach
@@J.milaman Makes no sense at all LOL. Now does eating whole fat instead of fat free make sense? Absolutely. Does eating totally crap food make sense? Absolutely not
Thank you for this video! I had such tight hamstrings that I couldn't even touch my ankles. I wanted to change this so I could get in a better position on the bike as a vet rider. Anyhow, I found until I corrected the underlying reason for the tightness in the first place that stretching only made the tightness worse. It was really pretty interesting and I didn't realize how sophisticated the brain was at controlling range of motion. Anyhow, it was a long journey of actually strengthening the hamstrings through the full range of motion and the functionality of the opposing muscles that started to unlock the hamstrings. I can now finally touch my toes after strengthening hip flexors and quadraceps too. Anyway a long post to say that flexibility was way more involved than I thought. My next project is hip mobility lol.
Can you tell me why my Garmin tells me I've got Vo2 max of 32. I use LitPro and on the Garmin I use "bike" because there is no MX. I have been a life long athlete and it's really freaking me out. Thanks I'm a year older then you and love your Podcasts.
Nothing to worry about - just a variable that you can reference against other performance metrics. I would strongly suggest time trials of your sport of choice. Take the elapsed time, average and maximum heart rate and then look at your body composition numbers to ensure that your strength to weight ratios are improving. Vo2 is a great variable, but not the gospel. Going faster (raw power and muscular endurance) and at a lower heart rate (aerobic capacity) is all that you should concern yourself. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thats exactly what I was hoping you would say. Thank you so much. I am getting leaner and faster as well as faster recovery. Watts will be on the low side at the moment due to the focus on moto instead of cycling but I think I'm in the right direction. Thanks again
Looking forward to the new episodes on how to solve each of the performance issues you might have. This year we got bit by a lot of them, even afyer being aware of them and taking measures to
Thank you for watching! I am a fan of the Fenix 6. The Forerunner and the Fenix have the same brains; however, the Fenix has a steel body which I find is more durable for riding and taking hits from rocks, etc.
lining up next to and racing against guys like Emig and Brown is IMO a really cool opportunity, even if they will lap me halfway through the race. When I get on the track I'm not "racing" - I'm just out there to have fun.
Completely understood! They are both great guys who have played a significant role in the history of motocross and supercross for sure. Thank you for watching.
Derek is literally a genius. I am excited about a few projects that will drop in October - all will help families and riders get to that next level without breaking the bank.
Brilliant Podcast. If I only knew this when I was a top FL 125A in 1986-88. I've been delayed by a woke building department a few yrs on a construction project I sank my life savings into. It's getting resolved now and will finish by turn of yr. I hope to get back to my career goals and make some dreams happen for action sports athletes in not too distant future. I really appreciate your knowledge Coach Robb. And this guy Derek is solid with his insight! One day next year, I'll be in touch.
