Im a bit of a Fan of the High Republic and of the Star Was Pen and Paper RPG. Is anything known if they want to implement the High Republic into the Sourcebooks for the Pen and Paper RPG? Or are there any fanproducts already?
The film feels like it wants to be an anti-comic book film in every conceivable way. I don’t feel like that’s a surprising direction from this series, but it’s one that certainly won’t work best for audience expectations.
Just got into playing all these star wars games for the first time after I got my first pc. The first one I played was Jedi academy. I can't believe it ends there I wanted to see more of Luke's order😭
Good question. Star Wars has two continuities. One is called Star Wars Legends (every game release prior to 2014) and Star Wars Canon (All of the Disney-Era games from 2014 to present day). Since Battlefront II’s story mode and Vader Immortal were released under Disney’s ownership of Lucasfilm, they are considered Star Wars Canon. This video only covers the Star Wars Legends video game timeline. I hope that helps explain the difference. Thanks for watching!
What an excellent video! As a new reader to the canon books, coming from all of the legends books, this was extremely informative. I would love to see your personal ranking list of the canon books. Thanks again and keep putting out such great content!
If we’re just talking about the original Universal Frankenstein movies, you’d watch them in this order: Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, The Ghost of Frankenstein, and House of Frankenstein.
Now for the big question: what would a super cut look like? Which cannon and legends books would you combine? Granted after the fall of the empire the timelines diverge pretty hard but which legends books are worth bringing to cannon and which cannon books are worth bringing to legends? That would be a hard video to make but now that you have both timelines you at least know what all is there.
That's a topic I have been thinking about for a while haha. My plan is to not necessarily make a timeline video, but one that provided a list of every Legends novel that doesn't have major contradictions to Canon and vice versa. Thanks for the suggestion!
And with some of the recent news that has come out about the production process around this movie, it sounds like he had no one there to say no to his decisions.
A fan of the canon here, trying to get more into Legends stuff while we get more canon stories. Honestly i wish more people were able to enjoy both universes as i do
So glad you're enjoying both! I'm also a fan of both continuities. Both have very different styles and are enjoyable in their own ways. Thanks for watching!
@@swlegendslore cool! Recently i decided to just get as far as i can from the fandom's in-fighting and just enjoy the whole thing lol thank you for the video!
I wasnt even a big fan of the first one but Lady Gaga and the musical inspiration sounded very promising. But I think now that I'm gonna skip the second one.
They did in the Star Wars Canon continuity. This video is for the Legends/Expanded Universe continuity. You can find my Star Wars Canon Skywalker Family Tree here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jj6lt9pfG-Y.html
I agree with the most of this list. I haven't read Lando yet, but since everyone is saying that is very good, I'll read it soon. By the way. Even if those aren't aren't finished, I love the 2020 comic series. They tie the cannon together and making everything feel connected.
I hope you enjoy Lando! It was a huge surprise when it came out. The 2020 line is great and would probably make the list if it were finished as of recording. Maybe I'll do a Charles Soule Star Wars Comics rankings as another list since he owns like half this list haha
Recently started diving into the EU. Already 15 books down and obsessed with this side of Star Wars. Top 3 novels so far are Rule of Two, Kenobi, and Lost Stars
I would like to start but I’m not really a reader so it’s tough. I have recently started reading comic books (marvel/dc) and I would love to jump into SW Legends
Audiobooks are a great way to enjoy Star Wars novels if you're not much of a reader. I'm a big fan of Star Wars audiobooks. The production value is extremely high. Sounds from the movies like ship engines, blaster firing, lightsaber noises, etc. are added in, and most of the narrators are excellent! I recommend listening while you're driving or on a walk if you're trying to find time to see if you like them. Also, if you have Spotify Premium, there are lots of Star Wars Audiobooks included with your subscription! Just a thought if you're looking for an alternative way to consume the EU stories without having to find the time to read. Hope that helps out
I have 90% of all SW books & im not even a collector. Well i don't allow Disney era SW in the house. But the secret is BRIBERY! I offered my mom & her Garage Saling friends $20 for every SW book haul & retro gaming they find. OF COURSE= I Had to stop when i was getting like 25 copies of Maddens for ps2 and 15 copies of Heir to the EMpire.. ~i used the doubles to make a full collection for new readers(TWICE over) Now they send me a picture before i say yes lol.. ~The Young reader stuff from the 80's are my favorites. An dthe Galaxy of Fear. They are rare & surprisingly great reads.
I ALWAYS start new reader w/ "Courtship of Princess Leia" ~Thrawn trilogy deters 90% cause it starts off boring & slow for 1st 100 pages. This is fact caus eive lived it many times over... ~Another great place to start would be Shadows of the Empire or The Jedi Academy or Jedi Search trilogy.. Luke gets his 1st students who later become Mace Windu like powerful masters 15 years later... The EU/Legends are My Canon!
I’ve read every one of these aside from the Han Solo trilogy. Great list 🙌🏻 I also agree The Jedi Academy trilogy is probably the worst. Just seems very elementary in how it’s written. Almost as if it was meant for young readers not adults.
Thanks! Yeah, I felt like Jedi Academy had to be included on an essentials list because of how important it is for laying the ground work of how Luke’s Jedi Order operates in the post-RotJ EU, but it’s certainly not as high quality as everything else on the list.
Great list. I'm actually surprised that the early Dark Forces games didn't make it onto the list, and neither did Shadows of the Empire, but, like you said, there's definitely a second list that can be done as well. I do think that Kyle Katarn doesn't get as much notice as other characters do when it comes to characters that originate in video games. I think it's because, outside of the Dark Forces graphic album books, he didn't appear in the novels until the end of the New Jedi Order series, and then was only in books that aren't as well loved like Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi.
Thank you! The first two Dark Forces are still great games and just missed out on a spot on this list. Shadows of the Empire would also be on a second list although the gameplay hasn’t aged that well. It’s too bad we never got a fifth DF/Jedi game so that Kyle could’ve stayed in the forefront of famous Star Wars video game protagonists well into the late 2000s!
@@swlegendslore Yeah, it's early N64 gameplay and graphics. Those were never gonna age well. As much as I love Rogue Squadron for the N64, I think the starfighter combat mechanics actually got better with Battlefront and Battlefront II in the 2000s. I honestly have no idea why there was never a fifth Dark Forces/Jedi Knight game. I don't even know if there was supposed to be one and it got canceled or not.
@@tgif1345 There was actually going to be a Jedi Knight 3! It was going to be called, Jedi Knight III: Brink of Darkness. I'm not sure why it was canceled, but it was supposed to completely conclude Kyle's story. Maybe his appearances in NJO (which had already released by Jedi Outcast) nixed that since it takes place over 10 years after the Jedi games. They could have set it after NJO though, and it most likely would have come out before Dark Nest and Legacy of the Force, so if they wanted to kill him off they still could have done it without having to contradict anything.
Her character was horribly acted by Leslye Headland's partner, and she came off as really unlikable. By the end of the show, she is basically a villain who pins everything on Master Sol. Her character was totally destroyed.
