Draal was a strong and brave troll in Trollmarket under the grounds of Arcadia. He faced Gunmar who was finally out of the Darklands and in the surface of the human world. He should have run while he had the chance like Gunmar said, but he insisted. That blue troll replied, he does not run. He called himself Draal, protector of James Lake, the Bular Slayer. He made an oath to protect Jim from danger with his life because he was the sworn guardian of the trollhunter and he honored his oath. That was before Gunmar used his blade to take control of him, not his body but his mind. Oh, my God. How horrible. Draal was being controlled by the evil Gunmar to get to Jim and couldn't resist until he was freed from the wretched trance by the magic of Merlin in the cave behind the waterfall. Gunmar forced him to do things he never would have done himself. Draal was not just Jim's protector, he was his friend.
In the Darklands, Jim Lake Jr. was able to face the cruelest, black-hearted troll that led an army of Gumm-Gumms, Gunmar. He was captured and delivered to their master who was expecting to see the human trollhunter. Gunmar did hear the stories of Kanjigar choosing a human child to take his role by the amulet. He vowed to get his revenge against Jim for murdering Bular, his only son. That was his goal, I bet.
Great show. Jim Lake Jr. the trollhunter and Draal the Deadly were having a rematch and fighting in the Hero's Forge as everyone watched and enjoyed. It was pretty brutal. Draal was stopping at nothing to get back what was rightfully his - his role to be chosen by the amulet as the next trollhunter, which he took after his father who fell in battle against Bular. Jim was doing the best he could to show him who's boss and teach him a lesson for bullying him because that troll was jealous and suspicious of the teenage human boy stealing his legacy the day the amulet chose him in the canal. in the middle of the fight, Jim found Draal's weakness, his blind spot after kicking him in the gronk-nuks and then let the giant swinging axe hit him right down to the edge of the cliff. As Draal was hanging onto the edge and the citizens of Trollmarket chatted to tell the trollhunter to finish the fight, Jim drew his sword and looked at Draal's eyes. Instead of killing him, the boy spared his life and helped him back up. "The fight is to the death", Draal said when he looked sad and confused. Even though Jim won the fight, he felt sorry for the poor unfortunate Draal who walked out of the arena and was booed and the other trolls threw gnomes and trash at him. This was so humiliating. Jim doesn't understand why they treated him that way. He spared his life, but destroyed his honor. But I think that taught Draal a lesson as he knew what it was like to be hurt.
I like the part where Aaarrrgghh!!! confronted Gunmar in the Darklands while he and the team attempted to rescue Jim. Gunmar cannot believe his former Gumm-Gumm general Aaarrrgghh!!! joined forces with the Team Trollhunters and tried to kill him in front of them. But our brave and loyal troll friend refused to give in. Aaarrrgghh!!! said Gumnar had grown old and weaker century after century, but the monster presumed he was strong enough to kill still. When Team Trollhunters fled to make an escape from the Darklands, Gunmar, Dictatious (Blinky's brother) and the army chased after them as the bridge was going to close, for time was running out.
It was an epic battle against the evil Bular, the goblins, and the changelings (Stricklander and Nomura) in the museum where the Killahead Bridge was hidden and rebuilt, so that Gunmar, Bular's father, would be released and conquer the entire world, even Trollmarket. Jim Lake Jr., Aaarrrgghh!!!, Toby Domzalski, Draal, and even NotEnrique fought their enemies bravely. Draal lost his right arm when he struggled to get the amulet out of the bridge to shut the portal that leads to the Darklands where Gunmar and his army of Gumm-Gumms were kept inside the bridge for centuries. At sunset, Jim faced Bular under the bridge of the canal and killed him. The son of Gunmar was no more. It was a relief as Draal said to the brave Jim "My father has been avenged. Thank you, trollhunter." I know the feeling in Draal's heart. If his father were here, he would have been proud of his son for training the young human trollhunter so well. And then, Aaarrrgghh!!! told Toby (nicknamed Wingman) that his life was more important, not a pet. After piling up the bridge and brought its pieces to vault of Trollmarket, the other trolls prepared a celebration for Jim's victory over the son of the Gumm-Gumm. All hail Jim, the Bular Slayer! Hip, hip, hooray! Draal received a mechanical arm and everyone got taco from Toby. I just love those trolls. Meanwhile, back in the Darklands, Gnome Chompsky went around the labyrinth and found a thousand babies. What a strange and dark place to raise them.
This is the best part. In the backyard of Jim Lake Jr., Draal the Deadly began training Jim and taught him to properly wield the sword of daylight. As he said, "if my destiny is to not hold the sword, perhaps it is to teach you how to properly wield it." He used the lamp as a weapon for some sparring. That troll trained his human friend well to make him a strong fighter like his father was, no doubt. Draal was really something. I love him.
I like the part of the scene where Draal saved Jim Lake Jr. from the wrath of the evil changeling Nomura at his home in Arcadia. After beating the impure in the backyard, Draal told Jim that he came to guard his home and protect him with his life since he cannot go back to Trollmarket. So, the boy gave the lonely troll sanctuary and kept him hidden in the basement. Draal also said Jim to make himself a good trollhunter, even if it means to start being afraid. When that time came, Draal would be proud to fight by his friend's side and Jim appreciated him. Draal the Deadly, the son of Kanjigar the Courageous (the former trollhunter). Draal and Jim, once rivals until they became friends and partners. He was also a surrogate brother to the human Jim and used to call him "fleshbag." Mm-hmm, Draal is my favorite character in Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia and Wizards: Tales of Arcadia.
