Great vid. For even more coverage on the inside of the umbrella (when the diffuser's on), use the little hard plastic dome as it helps to spread the light inside the umbrella much more efficiently. Great vid again! Shoot through umbrellas of all sizes are awesome and very underrated modifiers!
Hi great video and a great idea 💡, you have in the thumbnail 500/ hr but didn’t cover how you price or package these shoots! Sorry if I missed it if you did ? Love that you used only one light to focus on the client more 💫
It's currently winter here in Canada so there isn't that much light atm. However, I have been using flashes a lot. Both on camera and off camera. This video is amazing and so helpful when it comes to shooting in really bright days! And in a couple more months it will be spring and summer here in Canada and this video definitely helps once the bright natural light is back!
OMG, what is that voice in the background.............so annoying pick a better location next time and move your subject AWAY from the background, you're so basic
Hey Stine! Here bothering you again. I bought a 35mm 1.8 and I'm struggling with focus. I'm not used to such a shallow depth of field. Do you have any tips? I tried recomposing as little as possible using the outer focus points, but my camera is not very advanced so they aren't as precise as the center point, and I have just 11 points. (nikon d3400 entry level camera)
Hi! a few things could be happening here, like it might need calibrating or perhaps its best to close down a few stops until you get to know it more. I have a 50mm 1.4 that is notoriously soft everywhere except for the centre focus point so I only ever use it for particular shots where I know it wont matter too much. Generally speaking, I stop down if I keep missing focus. It just makes everything a bit easier. Hope thats helpful!
Good video. Beautiful model and location. Two questions: One, why did you use a 35mm lens rather than say a 28-200 or even a 24-105? Second, I would have chosen fill flash or had someone hold a reflector for me because when you shoot with natural light and adjust the light in post you lose a lot of the blue color in the sky and some of the natural color surrounding the model.
Thanks! The whole concept for this video is to show how I shoot in full midday sun without a reflector or fill light. Im a one woman band and do everything myself including filming the photoshoots, so I prefer to keep it minimal 😊 And I love the 35mm so I can be close to my model to give directions and I also love the look. And I chose to reduce the sky colour in post, thats an editing choice. I hope that answered your question, happy shooting!
Can you share a bit of how you got your first branding session in the first place? I'm struggling trying to get clients through Instagram messages. I am not confident enough to post an ad yet.
Hi! This is a hard question to answer in one comment, but I will try. I already had a portrait business where I was doing headshots as part of my clients' sessions, if they needed one. So all I did was set up a dedicated page on my website, email my current clients and my mailing list with an offer. I got a couple of sessions from that and kept sharing the benefits of having branded photos for their business. Ive never really gotten clients through IG. I posted a lot in business groups with my offers, networked etc. I will make a video with strategies to land more branding clients soon but I hope this helps a little 🙂 Getting in front of people locally, and meeting people in person, makes it a lot more likeable that you will book someone in. Don't rely on social media.
@@munkcreative Thank you so very much for your time!! I really appreciate it. Wasn't expecting such detailed response. That last sentence is kind of a slap on my face. I gotta promote my sessions some other way. Can't wait for your next video! 💜
Thank you fro this, this was so helpful, I just bought a Godox V1 and from watching your video just realised I needed the trigger too, so now I can't wait for it to arrive so I can play around with it!
